Re: CV Failure

Lou, thanks for the kind words. You sure do put the miles on your box flare 510, wish I still had the time to take my car on more trips, how far is it to Road Atlanta for you? My offer of headlight surrounds and a stock 71 grill, both painted flat black, they are all straight, came off my 510 and I...

Re: Air Conditioning for 72 4 dr. w/vg30?

There is a universal heat and AC combined unit called the Hurricane. These are used in hot rods and resto-mods. It is compact at 11" tall x 8.5" deep x 11.5" wide I plan to take a hard look at this uint for my 66 V520. Link https://www.oldairproducts.com/product/hurricane-2100-comple...

Re: 1971 2 Door, L16 --> 2.1 Long Rod --> SR20VE

Did some rough engine bay work tonight with the drill and a sanding disk. Going to give the entire bay a pass with it before moving to some finer stuff by hand. Then can go about filling unwanted holes and smoothing everything out Don't forget about your upper and lower unibody channels. Being out ...

Doh!! Ok Steve Pepka yes didn't know it was you Duh!! Your 510 is a very nice specimen of a box flared 510 I really like it, it's clean. Prepping my 510 for the drive to Road Atlanta in late April with the East Coast 510 contengent. Should be as fun as it was in 2010.

Re: Rear Crossmember

Yes, I understand you would have to modify the Byron brackets. If you go with the Penultimate cross member how do you get the toe adjustment that the Byron bracket offers? By adjusting the inner pivots in or out on the threaded piece, no? Inner or outer I believe by placing shims between the bracke...

Re: Wtb 7/8 280zx bmc

All 240/260 280z were front disc and rear drum brakes. All 280zx were front and rear disc brakes. All zx front disc and calipers were the same. Even the Turbo model. Rear zx disc brake caliper style were changed in Aug '81 All zx masters were 15/16" but the master cylinder mounting bolts were ...

Re: Rear Crossmember

Restoring a 72 4dr 510 and going to install the Byron brackets. My question is if I am planning to lower the car why would I not re/re the outer bracket also? I know the instructions say that the outer bracket stays and you weld on the new Byron bracket. Why not install both of them 1" higher ...

Re: CV Failure

I've had my CV's it on my dime for 25k, since 2001? They don't leak a drop of grease, ever. They have never come off my car since put on and I haven't serviced them since. Why should I, they have redline CV-2 grease lubing them. The CV gaskets that were talked about earlier are meant to go between ...

Re: CV Failure

I currently replaced the crappy Ermish axles with new improved Ermish axles and used the Redline CV-2 grease, serrasted washers and the 2 bolt clamping spacers #2 in diagram. Origionally I was running serrated washers, loctite and safety wired. But upon removing after removing the safety wire, every...

I believe disk disk, disk drum were on particular year ZX's. Is why I mentioned asking Troy about MC setup for particular brake setups. Exchange rate and shipping rates would make that an expensive venture fersure but you gota pick one.

Holy mackerolli! I hadn't visited JNC for a while so I'd missed that exchange. I'm sure Dave has long gotten over it but WOW, that's quite a lode of complete horse-shite. Another reminder of how the USA does little to help the plight of the mentally ill and just makes me want to buy a bunch of un-n...

Re: CV Failure

Hey Ryan sorry I hadn't written an answer to your question. But no I didn't have vibration on acceleration. But I did have vibration at 60_mph+ so I swapped the mustache bar bushings putting the thicker one up top. Reason is the new crossmember bushings are a good 3/8" thicker than the ones it ...

Re: Wtb 7/8 280zx bmc

Troy Ermish has them new and setup for 4 wheel disks but I believe he can change for rear drum not sure ask. I have one and it works much better than the 15/16 original.
