Re: 510 chokes up, hesitates under acceleration.

Y'all. This post is very late; but, always check your vacuum lines for dry-rot. After months of chasing his issue, it turned out to be a vacuum leak. I was on a Weber carb tuning website and the first sentence in all-caps and bold said "CHECK YOUR VACCUM LINES!" I have obviously learned my...

510 chokes up, hesitates under acceleration.

Team, I've been chasing a hesitation issue like a madman. The wagon is choking up under acceleration. I took the engine from bone-stock and swapped out the OE carb for a Weber 32/36 DGV, new plugs, new wires, Pertronix EIM, Pertronix Coil, I think I timed it right, new mechanical fuel pump, new fuel...

Re: '72 Wagon: As Blue as the Night is Bright.

Made the commute to work. I can say that the New Orleans roads are not the friendliest on lowered cars.

Some of you asked about the spring rating up front. I guess I can't complain, it's a little bouncy on rough roads, but it's also saved me from bottoming out.

Re: '72 Wagon: As Blue as the Night is Bright.

The bleeders were below the hoses, oops.

I swapped the calipers and it stops on a dime.

Re: '72 Wagon: As Blue as the Night is Bright.

Thanks for the suggestions guys. I did install new rear wheel cylinders. I have fluid at all four corners, the fluid is clean and bubble free. I did get a PM over the weekend suggesting that I may have installed the calipers upside down. And, although a little embarassing to admit, that may be my is...

Re: '72 Wagon: As Blue as the Night is Bright.

I'm hitting you guys up again to see if you had any more thoughts on my brake issue. I performed the pump up method several times, tried it on a few different days, with different pumpers. Initially I had a the 15/16" 280ZX master cylinder; but, after what it seem to be several failed attempts ...

Re: '72 Wagon: As Blue as the Night is Bright.

The tires are 50-series, but do look like a lower profile. I ended up going with 15x6 Rotas since I was skeptical about the fitment up front and I think the 6-inch wide wheel up front is the widest I can do with this front end coil over set-up. I'm okay with the fitment of the wheel/tire combo up fr...

Re: '72 Wagon: As Blue as the Night is Bright.

Just some teaser photos.

I like the height of the front and need to work on bring down the rear some. I feel like the wheels in the back look too small, after tweaking the drop I'll see if I still feel that way.

Re: '72 Wagon: As Blue as the Night is Bright.

We worked on thee brake system for 2+ hours yesterday evening, doing about 3 cycles of the "pump-up" method at the Master Cylinder and all 4 corners, with no significant improvements. I'll probably dive into getting a new MC or a rebuild kit, next. If the new MC doesn't work I'll be going ...

Re: '72 Wagon: As Blue as the Night is Bright.

Yea, I was referring, particularly, to the bleeding process. I definitely know that brakes are working best when they're firm with a single press. :D I did have fluid leaking from the wheel cylinder which is how I confirmed that I had cross-threaded it. I do have a good feel that the "pump-up&q...
