Re: Nissan Bluebird Coupe (JCCA Race Car)

Check the thickness of the housing, if it is thicker than what was in there it is the higher volume water pump, which would be a bonus!

Re: Roll the dice

I could check with Campbell to see who he has pulling his frame on his Pontiac Firebird, after his crash at Knox.

Or, I'm sure Tyson knows someone who still has a frame jig.

Re: R160 Diff ID

Depends.....That was stock gearing in our 510's.

From a pure performance standpoint, depending on HP and torque, it would be quite lame.

With what you are re-building I would be shooting for a much "shorter" gear to really help acceleration, 4:11, 4:3, etc.

Re: Roll the dice

Maybe you could talk to Tyson, strike a price with ICBC and make up the diff with Tyson...IF...you value the wagon to be kept.

I dealt directly with Tyson with my G35, worked out well.

Re: Bike rides

Thanks for posting those up, cool you did that! We run basically the same Fox shock up front, love mine, so nice to tune it to trail type. I have not done much riding lately, did get out last week week for a ride with my son. Trails here have changed to more flowy type now, stunts are not as common,...

Re: OCTOBERFAST 2018

Wow, I am kinda shocked at our instant winter type weather, hoping we get a break in October for our drive. Matt and I snuck out yesterday for a quick mountain bike ride between rain cells.
At least the campfire ban has been rescinded, still going to camp a few more times before the snow flys.

Re: "83 280ZX close ratio box and 3:90 differential

If it was me, my last word...15" tires are kinda tall from what our 510's came with, they are going to be 23.5" or so tall. If you have a line on a 4:11, you will really benefit from that, Guaranteed. Unless you spend all day, 5 days a week, at 70 MPH on the freeway, you will enjoy the slightly shor...

Re: OCTOBERFAST 2018

Sounds good, I am hoping to drive back on the Coast highway after leaving Sonoma, never been down that way before, then cut over to Tacoma at the top. Do not have enough time to do the Olympic Peninsula.

Re: "83 280ZX close ratio box and 3:90 differential

That sounds pretty good, does the Sr transmission bolt up to the L-series? I guess..no..I do know I like to be able to just roll on the throttle in 5th and the car just takes off so 5th gives me a very usable power range when in the mountains, without having to gear down, unless I REALLY want to tak...

Re: "83 280ZX close ratio box and 3:90 differential

Just as another point of reference, here is a page from the Nissan Competition catalogue:

At least you can really see the difference in a real race transmission, where 1st gear is really tall, baking the clutch when you try to move from the pre-grid to the race track... :(

Re: "83 280ZX close ratio box and 3:90 differential

For what it is worth, just an FYI.... I have a true Nissan Comp close ratio transmission with the .865 overdrive. P/N 32010-N3130 1st gear: 2.906 2nd gear: 1.902 3rd gear: 1.308 4th gear: 1.000 5th gear: .865 This was originally chosen for a variety of reasons, tall 1st gear relatively so it was kin...

See my post on hikes.

Typical with the #1 highway, stupid accidents with insane backup for the long weekend traffic. We missed it all!
