2017 SCCA RunOffs

This year Collin Jackson, of Specialty Engineering, is heading down to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway for the run-offs. He will hit there this week with practice starting next week. His race is on Saturday, Sept 30 at 8:30 AM in the morning. We should be able to see it live stream, if all the techn...

Re: WINTHROP Drive 2017

I just ground some numbers this AM, I did 679 km, or 421.9 miles, engine running time showed 8.3 hours. That is Richmond to Richmond for me. I tagged 183KMH at one point. It looks like I may still have 2 gallons of fuel left, which is just plain crazy. We never did use my infrared temp to check some...

Re: Starter not engaging prperly

You will just have to see...with the starter gear OUT...as to how much it protrudes past the ring gear, and then pull it back from there, likely not much. Worth checking at any rate. Your lucky to be going to the Run-offs, our Team member COLLIN JACKSON from SPECIALTY ENGINEERING is on his way to ru...

Re: WINTHROP Drive 2017

This is a good group, everyone is on the "program", we flowed together well as a group. EDIT : As I was sitting here tonight, mulling over how much fun that drive was, the history of our drives goes back some 26 years now, as a "510 group". People have come and gone, there are re...

Re: Starter not engaging prperly

I ran into this very problem after dropping an 1800 into my wife's auto 1970 510.

I just put some washers between the starter motor and bell housing to bring the starter drive back towards the front of the car, worked perfectly and never had an issue with loosening or engagement.

Re: WINTHROP Drive 2017

Even I get down into 4th if we are doing say 60 MPH, or sometimes top of 3rd if I want to be ballistic. 4th lets there be no lag with the turbo. I am lucky that I have the rev capability to go to 8,000 RPM.

I just saw the 3:3...must take a week to get to 70MPH

Re: WINTHROP Drive 2017

I have to figure out how to eliminate that telltale puff...so I do not give it away when I get on it! That is when the secondary opens up and all hell breaks loose.

Re: WINTHROP Drive 2017

Sucks that it only takes a certain size photo. I used to be able to upload larger ones, but, that changed when we last had site issues. The forest fire smoke had come back so it was hard to get a nice contrast with the LIBERTY BELL peak. I did not even bother stopping at another photo op on the way ...

Re: WINTHROP Drive 2017

Morning World, Sorry about that Dean, I should have stayed on the main route, I do like to jiggy-jog through the back roads just to see what is out there. I have never seen so many churches in such a small area as Lyndon! As Norm said, it was like it was planned that as we came upon slow traffic, a ...

Re: WINTHROP Drive 2017

I won't even write a story on this one..how can you describe the pace that we went at through those fast left, right, left right sweepers, all the time climbing to the pass at 5,400ft. What a blast. I wound the speedo to the bottom of the gauge at one point for Norm and I. This highway was made for ...

Re: WINTHROP Drive 2017

Yes, I would like to cross the Border at 5:30, and hour to Sedro Woolley, fuel up and hopefully we encounter very little traffic and hit the Liberty Bell view point as the sun hits it. I'm getting up at 3:30, which is only an hour earlier than I usually do, this is the only bonus since I started wor...
