Re: My car is crooked?

Wow...that is it...I have not seen one of those in 45 years, all of our stuff has been in place so long.

Re: My car is crooked?

If I see the picture correctly, you have an after market isolator there for the spring, it look like a funky cone of some sort? Again, the stock one was a rubber "donut", approximately 1/2" thick and flat. The the ground end of the spring sat flat against that. Is it possible that thi...

Re: My car is crooked?

Sorry...preload would be if one of the heim joints had to be pulled up more to get it bolted up. This would then load the other side even more. It does not look like that is your issue but good to be aware of as part of understanding suspension. That you say the car was like this before sure says it...

Re: My car is crooked?

That right hand spring does NOT look seated onto the isolator, or...it just does not look the same as the other side, spring coils look further apart?! Spring(s) in the right way...sure they are but the flat ground should be UP and the open end tucked into the small "notch" in the bottom o...

Re: My car is crooked?

Are you sure there is NOT a rubber isolator stuck up top on the high side?, like there are 2 there? Maybe missed it? Are the crossmember large mounts equal on both sides...IE spacing....? That it was like this before....says it has to be something in the subframe/control arm area. Can you see any wr...

Re: 510 Day - Byron's place in Maple Ridge

510 Day 2024 Friday, 510 Day, was both a good day and a bit of a sad day, for me. I left my daughters garage at 10:45, planning to hit Mission Raceway by noon, to help Andy with the motorcycle track day he was involved with. I made the mistake of going out 16th Avenue, which was beyond stupidly slo...

Re: My car is crooked?

Control arm bent?

These things with no modification can bend quite easily.

Re: My car is crooked?

Are you sure the right hand side shock has not bottomed out? Just a thought.

You would have noticed a difference in the spring height...diff spring rate?

The car was not like this before...right?!

Give the car a bounce on that side and see if it has travel downwards.

Re: What did you do on your 510 today?

I have spent the last two days testing the car. fresh fuel in, so I can boost with confidence now. Adjusted valves, they were loose. Adjusted carb a few times, went to Specialty and had Andy listen to a "noise" and check valve train, all good. Took it for a good spin today and some traffic...

That looks good. You will have gained a bit of camber at the back, so that is a good thing.

Possibly some at the front too.

Re: Suspension Advice Needed

As the control arm goes up..or the body comes down..... The marked lip to the control arm surface just needs to be checked for clearance, when the suspension is fully compressed. Static height might be just fine, but, it is under full bump compression that just needs to be known. Hope that helps. I o...

Re: Suspension Advice Needed

I will send you a pic, just need to drag it into Paint and then draw a circle on the area, you will understand in a blink. Originally, the sway bar end link mounted on the end of the bump rubber, as the bolt came through the bottom of the spring well. The bump rubber was likely 3 - 4 " tall, fi...
