Re: Did 510 have rear swaybar originally?

I have posted this before, so sorry if is boring now. This is the Interpart suspension in all it's glory. I have Formula Atlantic front tires on the car, we used to buy them from the racers at Westwood race track for 20 -25 bucks each depending on wear. They were their "qualifier" tires. I...

Re: Did 510 have rear swaybar originally?

Hey Curt, No, the 510 never came with a rear bar. The Mulholland suspension " package was the early attempt to upgrade our 510's rather soft family car ride. The front and rear bars, the shocks and of course the springs sure helped in those days. The springs in reality were just Nissan off the ...

Edward (Ted) Leathley passes

Morning World! I hope all are well in this insanity we call our World right now. I found out the other day, through Norm in Sechelt, that Ted passed away. Ted was always full of humour and fun and was our 47th member in the 510 Club of B.C.. Somewhere on this site, or in one of our early newsletters...

Re: What did you do on your 510 today?

https://vimeo.com/manage/videos/669202612 Friday was my monthly start up, where outside temps were around 6C. I had put some lights in the engine bay, one of which shone directly into my fuel system distribution. I just turned the key and it lit right off in a blink. My family had given me a new &qu...

Re: 2.3L of fun

Did you change ANYTHING on the car over the past year that may cause the alt to think the system is seeing this HUGE drain so it tries to put out as though the battery needs the top up. Any weird ground in the LED headlights...something like that. I once, on the way to Knox, had a short and the alte...

Re: Aluminum drums ?

That is correct. The basic problem at the time, unless you bought new, was that most of the used drums we got had been turned at least once in their life, we would do a clean up pass, the steel liner was getting thin, so it's ability to distort became greater. Then, to top that off, we ran either Me...

Re: Aluminum drums ?

My experience, when it was the flavour of the day to have FINNED aluminum drums....... It kinda went with running true race pads on the street..what a dumb idea but a ton of us got sucked into that "racer" mentality. As I actually generated heat into my brake system, and into the rears as ...

Re: Suspension and brake questions

I put heavy gear oil in mine...do not drive in winter and like to think that bought me some more years of service. My 510 box died back in the 80's, as did the other Specialty cars, so we put in HL510 boxes in the 4 cars. At the time, we bought brand new worm and sector gears too, so that really tun...

Re: Suspension and brake questions

I think to answer your question fundamentally, if you JUST cut a spring ( front) and lower the car that way, what you get is a bit more NEGATIVE camber...that is good. Castor will not change nor required. Toe will change but that needs to be checked anyhow after any mods. What would be required is t...

Re: Suspension and brake questions

Mike is more or less right when he says you really don't need more than factory castor, for the setup you are imagining. Also for what you are envisioning, adjustability is a waste of money, drop the car to your ride height and call it dialed. Not only does castor give high speed stability, but, inc...

Re: Am I in over my head? '70 2 door from scratch

I love my new door sills, they look so tidy compared to the beat up factory ones. just go slow when tightening the screws, I could see a penchant for them, if over tightened, to start to dimple or distort the smooth plate area around the holes. As the indexing was so very close, there was only one h...

What this site has been through, since Spencer started it, you could write a book about. Our road trips and adventures, races, other competitions, hikes and bikes, losing good friends, characters that have come and gone, a 510 just the flavor of their day, technical stuff as good as any out there, f...

Morning World. Only those "long timers" on here will get the OKAYFINE reference. I meant no disrespect to any parties and just saw both the humour of 2 guys having a discussion on something and it went sideways, simple as that. That type of discussion ( which it is not) just hit me as OKAY...
