Re: 2017 SCCA RunOffs

The other fellow has now come out, Joe Kristensen,( Acura RSX) he is just less than 2 seconds behind Collin. Collin said he does not have us on power on the straight. Collin hit 142.6 MPH through the speed trap. I think his best lap time has been 1:47:xxx Have not seen any practice for the 510 guys ...

Re: 2017 SCCA RunOffs

Practice update. So, Collin is having a conflab with the Goodyear tires guys, who built him tires for this event, that they need to be a bit harder compound. Quote: "Collin takes new tires and makes them into old tires..Quickly" Andy on his thoughts on Indy....."It's Mission with Bric...

Re: 2017 SCCA RunOffs

Just to clarify, Indy is 3 hours AHEAD of us on the coast, so Collin's race will be at 5:30 AM on Saturday Sept, 30th.

Qualifying for GT-3 starts Monday at 5:00 AM our time, Tuesday at 5:56, Wednesday at 5:28 and Thursday at 5:00 am again.

Looks like 18 cars in GT-3 class.

Re: 2017 SCCA RunOffs

So far Collin's practice has gone ok. Track is tighter than thought so they are going to change gearing down a bit. He has done 3 session's so far, air temp is quite hot there.

Re: OCTOBERFAST 2017

Hey Jeff,

depends where we go this trip, likely stay on this side of the border so those without passports could come.

Early at any rate, at least to get some clear roads for the first part of the trip.

Again, depending on the trip, we try to rally up in Hope at the Chevron for say 6:30 AM. leave.

OCTOBERFAST 2017

Thought I would gauge interest in one last drive for the season. I do want to get in a few more camping trips.

My insurance is done November 4th. I have just enough fuel for about a 300 mile trip.

2017 SCCA RunOffs

This year Collin Jackson, of Specialty Engineering, is heading down to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway for the run-offs. He will hit there this week with practice starting next week. His race is on Saturday, Sept 30 at 8:30 AM in the morning. We should be able to see it live stream, if all the techn...

Re: WINTHROP Drive 2017

I just ground some numbers this AM, I did 679 km, or 421.9 miles, engine running time showed 8.3 hours. That is Richmond to Richmond for me. I tagged 183KMH at one point. It looks like I may still have 2 gallons of fuel left, which is just plain crazy. We never did use my infrared temp to check some...

Re: Starter not engaging prperly

You will just have to see...with the starter gear OUT...as to how much it protrudes past the ring gear, and then pull it back from there, likely not much. Worth checking at any rate. Your lucky to be going to the Run-offs, our Team member COLLIN JACKSON from SPECIALTY ENGINEERING is on his way to ru...

Re: WINTHROP Drive 2017

This is a good group, everyone is on the "program", we flowed together well as a group. EDIT : As I was sitting here tonight, mulling over how much fun that drive was, the history of our drives goes back some 26 years now, as a "510 group". People have come and gone, there are re...

Re: Starter not engaging prperly

I ran into this very problem after dropping an 1800 into my wife's auto 1970 510.

I just put some washers between the starter motor and bell housing to bring the starter drive back towards the front of the car, worked perfectly and never had an issue with loosening or engagement.

Re: WINTHROP Drive 2017

Even I get down into 4th if we are doing say 60 MPH, or sometimes top of 3rd if I want to be ballistic. 4th lets there be no lag with the turbo. I am lucky that I have the rev capability to go to 8,000 RPM.

I just saw the 3:3...must take a week to get to 70MPH

I have to figure out how to eliminate that telltale puff...so I do not give it away when I get on it! That is when the secondary opens up and all hell breaks loose.
