Re: My car is crooked?

Are you sure there is NOT a rubber isolator stuck up top on the high side?, like there are 2 there? Maybe missed it? Are the crossmember large mounts equal on both sides...IE spacing....? That it was like this before....says it has to be something in the subframe/control arm area. Can you see any wr...

Re: 510 Day - Byron's place in Maple Ridge

510 Day 2024 Friday, 510 Day, was both a good day and a bit of a sad day, for me. I left my daughters garage at 10:45, planning to hit Mission Raceway by noon, to help Andy with the motorcycle track day he was involved with. I made the mistake of going out 16th Avenue, which was beyond stupidly slo...

Re: My car is crooked?

Control arm bent?

These things with no modification can bend quite easily.

Re: My car is crooked?

Are you sure the right hand side shock has not bottomed out? Just a thought.

You would have noticed a difference in the spring height...diff spring rate?

The car was not like this before...right?!

Give the car a bounce on that side and see if it has travel downwards.

Re: What did you do on your 510 today?

I have spent the last two days testing the car. fresh fuel in, so I can boost with confidence now. Adjusted valves, they were loose. Adjusted carb a few times, went to Specialty and had Andy listen to a "noise" and check valve train, all good. Took it for a good spin today and some traffic...

That looks good. You will have gained a bit of camber at the back, so that is a good thing.

Possibly some at the front too.

Re: Suspension Advice Needed

As the control arm goes up..or the body comes down..... The marked lip to the control arm surface just needs to be checked for clearance, when the suspension is fully compressed. Static height might be just fine, but, it is under full bump compression that just needs to be known. Hope that helps. I o...

Re: Suspension Advice Needed

I will send you a pic, just need to drag it into Paint and then draw a circle on the area, you will understand in a blink. Originally, the sway bar end link mounted on the end of the bump rubber, as the bolt came through the bottom of the spring well. The bump rubber was likely 3 - 4 " tall, fi...

Re: Suspension Advice Needed

Looks good. There "might" be a number on the spring that would be the spring rate...maybe not. Once you have car on ground, at the rear, you can see the free clearance from the control arm to the body lip, there, you could put some sticky putty to see if it the lip touches it, and or what ...

Re: Vin Plate Size?

I lucked out too, at least close enough, that I had a number stamp set at work that was almost identical to my 73' numbers.

4" x 2 3/4"...holes are 3/16"

I had a bunch made up years ago, should do another batch.

Re: Yet Another Headlight Thread

I concur with those lights that had the metallic edge where the lens edge grounded on the headlight bucket!

It was either Hella or Bosch when some came out like that.

It haunted a few people till that got figured out.
