... then I bet you could have too for the VG swap and it would have been even cheaper

I dunno about the KA24E, but the DOHC 4 cyls are HUGE. A VG looks much more at home in a 510...

I have spent roughly $400-500 more on my VG30E swap than I did on my KA24E swap. Was it worth the extra money for more hp and torque? To me it was. datsunfreak, Was it really THAT expensive? I thought that a vg30 would be much cheaper. I mean the KA swap kits run about $900 or so, right? Rev...

Who cares if they're forged. It still makes under 200hp. unless it's turbo charged, or running compression that's higher than'll work on pump gas. Only then would you actually need forged pistons. Or are you gonna run bunches of nitrous? A strong bottom end doesn't make any power. It just supports a...

Sorry, I just thought that the caliper mount issue would go away when one opted for the entire rear control arms... uprights... etc.

It would, but otherwise pointless and a lot more work in other areas.

I tried to read through this thread, but 12 pages is a lot. I want to draw some knowledge from those of you that have run draw through systems. First off, I'm talking draw through EFI here (yeah I know it's stupid, but it's required by class rules), so no fuel and heat in turbo going boom. I was cur...

I was curious if it becomes easier to mount the 280zx rears if you grab the rear control arms and hubs. Is there a disadvantage to this (like a lot of extra fabrication) or is it a bolt in? "This is a shot of the rear suspension. Note the tight clearance on the 280ZX rear control arms. The wheels ar...

OK, I gotcha. The PPF idea sounds pretty cool. I found a site once where a guy grafted the control arms from an FD (cool, now I can use cool model designations). I don't remember the website, strutless wonder seems to pop into my head, but this car was white, and the official "strutless wonder 510" ...

Sorry I can't help with the frame shop, but is a 510 wide enough to take a 3rd gen setup? And aren't they both unibodies, meaning no frames to swap?

Neat project. I'd like to see pics.

I hate to say, but if you loosened the head, the head gasket is most likely toast (I'm not one for reusing head gaskets... too much of a job to skimp here, but maybe others have some other ideas) Gaskets work by being too big for the gap, and as you squish them, they fill up all the little imperfect...

Yeah, you got a slow drain. Since it happens when the key isn't in the on position, I'd guess it's in the engine compartment. Pull the negative cable off the battery, and then hook a test light in series between it and the body. Things like clocks, or stereos can be small drains, so if you use a vol...

Silly question:
What did you use to cut all the little tabs in both the flare and fender? Tin snips? cutoff wheel? Nibbler?

How do you make them go away? I mean after it's all welded, it won't be round, it'll have like 50 little corners... right?

Body work scares me...

Quick check: When you check from the coil + to ground, when you have the key on the on position, do you have 12 volts? If not, then you may have cooked a fusable link or something. If so, then you can move onto coil, and computer... Battery cable falling off the battery side would cause an open. Not...
