Re: Uphostery - first attempt at recovering a car seat.

I love the tape over the gun - I totally get it!

Love the grommets - awesome old school JDM touch.

Keep em coming, great thread.

Front Strut Comparison PL510, A510, 280ZX, S110 200SX

This information got lost years ago, or at least I can't seem to find it here on the Realm. Originally this was compiled in 2002 and posted here on the Realm, then updated in 2007. Mike asked me to re-post this, so I pdf'd my initial spread sheet and here it is for those who want or need the informa...

Re: Front short strut inserts whats available in 2019?

I have the Tokico 5 way adjustable units. Junk, at the track 1-5 feels exactly the same. I have Tokico 5 way adjustable from a gen 1 MR2 in the Bronze, still working well after 10 years of service... I'd have to look back in my build thread to find if I use front or rear inserts, Memory tells me th...

Re: Valve Spring Installed height micrometer

Has no one ever measured the installed height of a valve or valve spring in a Datsun L head?

If you remember the tool you used, I could use some guidance on a purchase.

Thanks guys.

Re: Uphostery - first attempt at recovering a car seat.

Kurk, thanks for the detailed write up - very cool as few would ever attempt this undertaking. Are new foam inserts available for these seats, I’m guessing the drivers seat was beyond help in its old condition! Or are you lucky enough that another pass side foam insert work on the drivers side seat?...

Re: Seeking wisdom re: L20B or Z22/U67

Removing the dipstick tubes without harming them is really difficult. But they are not expensive new from Nissan. In the past I have just bought new ones and drilled out the boss on the pass side of the Z22 block, then removed and plugged the dip stick tube on the drivers side of the block. The Z22 ...

Valve Spring Installed height micrometer

Hi Realm members, Is there a brand of installed height micrometer that you have used, one that will clear inside an L series head to give a good accurate valve installed height measurement? There are literally dozens out there, it of course the primary market is N/A V8 applications which have loads ...

I do Mike, but I don’t think I can post a .xlsx file on the realm since we changed servers.

I’ll see what I can do tomorrow.

Re: R200 LSD options/setup

I had a local ‘Specialist ‘ set up my R190 diff years ago for a street car. The thing was set to 75 lb break-away. It may have well be a welded diff. On new A032’s at the time, I couldn’t get the diff to actually be a diff. As noted, it may have well be welded. So, I took the opportunity to learn to...

Re: front suspension...whaaaaaaat!!!

Photos will tell us way more. Sounds like the pass side strut may have been 280ZX - photos will confirm both.

But the fact that both were different, and had different springs...bet that drove a bit strange!

Look forward to the update...the New Year can only bring better news :-)

Re: Seeking wisdom re: L20B or Z22/U67

Honestly, I’ve gone the cheap route lately and simpy used a felpro Z22 head gasket and trimmed the front cover section off at the front cover. And I’ve tried multiple attempts at using an L head gasket front section, with silicone sealing the joints. Success rate has been about 50% with no leaks, th...

Re: Seeking wisdom re: L20B or Z22/U67

The short answer is that you will boost your compression ratio from around 9 to 10-10.5 by placing your U67 head on a Z22 block, which is good for roughly 10 HP. You’ll also increase your stroke by 200ccs, good for roughly another 20HP. The shadbolt 445 increases your usable rev range another 1500 R...

Re: Adjustable Rear Camber/Toe Brackets

Hi all, had a few email inquiries this past month, so this is the annual bump to this thread. The camber toe brackets are still available and in production, available through myself directly out of Vancouver or Dave at Futofab in New Hampshire. Installation instructions and links are still in the fi...
