Re: New potential products for 510's and Datsun from Mattnde

OEM cover doesn't have steel helicoil inserts IIRC, just coarse threads. The OEM stud has coarse threads into the case and fine threads for the nylock nut, but there are rumors that cover thread may be different between early vs late diff models? (early R160 vs later R180?) I never bothered to check...

Re: New potential products for 510's and Datsun from Mattnde

I'm not sure the Perrin mini-baffle (if you can call it that) solution is ideal, or as good as OEM.
I have a catch-can setup:

Re: New potential products for 510's and Datsun from Mattnde

I can make the adjustment lol. Was trying to avoid any type of pocketing on the top outer surface but it looks unavoidable unless I create a splash barrier. I don't exactly remember R160 OEM covers and gaskets, but I'd also vote for OEM vent placement on the top side with some sort of internal spla...

Re: New potential products for 510's and Datsun from Mattnde

We just tapped out the stock hole for a pipe thread brass fitting for my hose to the catch can, dead simple. Just leave enough meat to make sure that can happen. Yup. I vote to keep it simple, even OEM like. Stock setup allows you to buy repl plastic vent and bore is easily tapped to NPT for whatev...

Re: New potential products for 510's and Datsun from Mattnde

It has already been done by Eric Straw (for R160/R180): http://www.the510realm.com/viewtopic.php?f=29&t=14920&p=153883&hilit=strawe510#p153883 I have a DXF file, but Eric has the final version. Maybe he and Matt can work out a deal... There was little interest at the time for $295 plus bushings, but...

Re: New potential products for 510's and Datsun from Mattnde

Here's a pic of the Perrin cover showing the fill plug in the way of the cover bolt. Compare the inside views of my Perrin cover vs OEM STi R180, and a view of the metal gasket. The tab on the OEM metal gasket likely also helps prevent gear oil splashing out the vent. You can see how simple and prim...

Or search the Google BB List for the recent thread w/ pics by John Roper using BMW sidemarker lights that seem to fit pretty well, and is shaped like version 1.

Re: New potential products for 510's and Datsun from Mattnde

So to summarize Matt's Project: -Less than $900 :D -Applications for R160 & R180 diffs. -Some degree of extra capacity and functional vertical deep cooling fins. -No downward pointing drain plug, no plugs that block cover bolts. -Maybe a simple internal baffle (like OEM) to prevent splash coming up ...

Re: New potential products for 510's and Datsun from Mattnde

The Perrin side mount fill plug blocks access to one of the bolts holding the cover in place so you cannot use a socket there. The drain plug is not at the lowest point. And the inside has no baffle to prevent splatter going straight up the vent (unlike the OEM cover) The cusco design may address th...

Another option: Custom Speedway tubular bar, which would allow for bar-swapping or end-swapping tuneability. My Strutless car is a 2600lb pig (fully loaded w/ me in the driver's seat) on 205/40-17 Nitto NT-01 R-compounds, 310# wheel rate at all 4 corners, and 335lb RW Tq. I have front double A-arms ...

Re: sedan vs wagon bumper (rear)

Wagoneer-
Still need a bumper?
I think I have a wagon rear bumper outside leaning next to the house. I'm in Menlo park.
Not perfect, but staright, some sufrace rust under where the overiders used to be, but not awful, maybe 6-7/10?
I even have pics somewhere too.

Re: Interesting ebay Finds

That's Kevin Neely's Dime.
Lotsa $$$ and TSR stuff. Surprised he's selling it.

Sale has ended (pulled by seller), but BIN was $28k?
Anyone know what it went for? Is that the $36.4K listed above?
