Newsletters from the 510 Club of B.C. 1991-2011

Maybe I’m a bit too nostalgic, having a hard time letting the past go, but, yesterday, I went from ten in the morning till ten at night, starting to tackle a project that I have thought of doing for a LONG time. When I retired from work last May, I dragged 14 large plastic tubs home, filled with Dat...

Re: Don West needs help

Don called me and I WILL call him back, as I was out when he called.

We have been busy with a NEW Granddaughter and looking after our first Granddaughter while Mom was "busy".

Glad things working out for him and a big thanks goes to Richard(ChickenMan) for helping in so many ways.

Re: 2.3L of fun

My experience, for what it is worth, with my Nissan LSD, was that once I got my car balanced in terms of handling, was the driver was the one that controlled things, with his right foot. Knowing WHAT your car is going to do if you go into a corner too hot, will dictate how much throttle you may or m...

Re: 2.3L of fun

That is a funny story. When we barbecued the oil out of the diff in Tracey's car during the 7 hour Enduro,
the smell was horrendous, to the point of almost your experience.

I wonder what is in that oil that does that? Or, in your case, was it a water content that got in there?

At least you can see the 205/50 x 15 is still a popular size, at least for now.

Yah, I agree road trip to Summerland, we could do the Aspen grove loop from Princeton to the Connector, then to Summerland, then back via Penticton.

I like my steak medium well, my lawn chair set at 45 degrees, and very cold lemonade for my drink.

Re: tire choices -- aggressive summer -VTO wheels - BS >>?

Don't know what to say..Norm expressed the SAME as I did, as have some others. They made my car UN-DRIVABLE, simple as that. Norm and I would be close in terms of where we actually use the tire, and that is CARRYING speed through a corner, where it is NOT POWER...but cornering GRIP. That is where we...

Re: tire choices -- aggressive summer -VTO wheels - BS >>?

For what it is worth, I hated the R888's, way too flexy sidewall unless you got up into the high 30's or low 40's for tire pressure, which my suspension setup did not like at all. The rear of the car just was a nightmare, changing from some thing that was ROCK SOLID. Norm ( Monkeys) had the same exp...

Re: R200 LSD options/setup

Just to confirm you are not alone....my diff clunks and thunks on slow speed, tighter turns, just a function of the diff being locked up. You should have heard mine on full race slicks, sounded like it was blowing up.

It's not bad now after after 36 years of use!

Have a friend who is downsizing, has to get rid of things. Asked me to see if anyone is interested.

Looks to be in a bit rough shape, but intact.

Looking for 35.00 CDN or....

Re: Sr20det catch can setup

The key is to NOT have, or beyond minimal oil going past the rings! Having perfectly round cylinders is a key component, as is ring choice. Specialty uses a ^torque plate^ to make sure cylinders are round . That also insures zip for combustion gases blowing by into the crank case and then hence movi...

Re: Sr20det catch can setup

Mike is right, racing requires one, but, I can attest that I am constantly cleaning the oil/water condensate out of my catch can. It is messy! I put a piece of blue towel down mine, let it sit over night and then pull it out, soaked with that mess. It is amazing how much water vapour is generated on...
