Re: Timing chain too loose
yes the spring is still in the tensioner. but like was said, that should have nothing to do with the tight-side of the chain. how many shims can you stick under the cams? is there a difference in timing chains year to year?

Timing chain too loose
I cant seem to get my timing chain to get tight enough. I have it on the #3 hole, and the mark is still to the left of the notch. I have replaced the guides, tensioner and chain. I added more cam tower spacers, and it got better, but when I start it, it still rattles at low RPM. This is a former road...

Re: Water Pump Questions
Its on a L16. The water pump pulley that is on it is shorter than the 510 pulley i had lying around. It also had a damper-style crank pulley, with the rubber band in the pulley, and I thought that the z-cars(240z, 260z, 280z)had those dampers. I switched to the solid style 510 crank pulley and now th...

Water Pump Questions
Is there any actual gain in using a z-car waterpump? I have to switch from a z-car crank pulley to a 510 crank pulley and now the waterpump pulley dosent line up anymore. If there is an advantage, is ther a way to fit the 510 waterpump pulley on the z-car pump?
Thanks
Jim

Re: L16 Valve questions
The pin is for alignment and drives the cam. The washer is thick enough, the bolt was not bottomed out. It was properly torqued. The pin is too short. When the pin finally touched the washer, there wasn't enough lenght to drive the cam. And no one seems to have the 1.73 in 280z intake valves.

Re: L16 Valve questions
No. I didn't use the fuel pump eccentric, but the washer that is on the bolt is big enough to cover the holes. the pin worked out of the camshaft. the pin is only as long as the gear is thick.so as soon as the pin worked out far enough to touch the washer, there was nothing sticking out the other si...

Re: L16 Valve questions
Its really weird. The drive pin seems too short. the washer held in from coming out all the way, but by the time it got to the washer, there wasn't any pin sticking out the other side of the pully to drive the cam. so those intake valves are 280z intake valves and the exhaust valves are normal 510 v...

L16 Valve questions
So the dowel pin that holds the cam gear managed to walk it's way out last night, with the result of bending a couple valves. The only numbers on the head are 219. the exhaust valve measures 1.38" an the intake measures 1.73" does anyone have any idea where we could get them or what they m...
