nice!, I see you have a weber like mine. If you need any help jetting, I would gladly help. I have a reasonable selection of jets that you could try. do you have a mixture monitor?< or is it the spark plug reading method? I found that jetting these is a two step operation. Jet the primary, then do t...

Wow, Rob, that was good. I'm not sure where I fit in on that one. It just goes REEEL GOOOOD> I ALWAYS let my motor idle for a minute or two after coming to a stop. If I have not been beating on the car, I let it idle for 20 secs. or so. At the Knox hillclimb I would let it idle for a good two minute...

Thanks, but "The Great Rolling Dyno" is all I really need. I always worry about enough cooling air on these chassis dynos. I have been on a chassis dyno and not been impressed with the fans. I would be really pissed to melt my motor down just sitting there. Would be rather ironic to kill it that way...

I have a 280zx turbo pump on my car. It is very quiet, if you rubber mount it. Most of the electric pumps will need to be mounted this way. Holley recommends that most pumps should "push the fuel", IE: be close to the gas tank. Push/pull, I do not know about that. If anyone has a 280zx turbo pump I ...

Ouch, was that a cheap shot about my age? Actually, i started on the "gee-whiz" gadgetry when I got started with 510's, thats what is neat about all of us. We can never leave well enough alone. Something can ALWAYS be made better, faster. I have just had more TIME to play with all the gadgets. If I ...

Hi Rob, the last motor was 13 years old!!! It slalomed for most of those years, did thirten years of Knox Mnt., ran Westwood on our track days, and I used to get to play with Specialty Engineering on their test days at Westwood, ran events in Seattle, did all the street races...and most of the Missi...

Hi Spencer,
Glad to see you actually studied. Missed you, but the weather really was pretty horrible. At least my Datsun is clean. Tyson could not get traction because he kept hydroplanning with the big tires, that was wet.

Hello Bootman510, I built my own water/methonol injection system on my 510. It is self pressurizing so as to be dead reliable. I really do not think, if you keep the boost the same, that it changes horsepower that much. What it is meant for is an anti-detonant. Some "gurus" say it should not be used...

Rob, it has been awhile! GTX is for the hillclimbs, C-mod is for the slaloms. Yes that WAS the day the wastegate had a signal problem. Wow , was 25 lbs exciting. One year at Knox, some asshole TURNED UP the boost control knob in my car. When I left the light I thought to myself the moter really feel...

Spencer, why don't you stop by where I work and I can go through the rule book with you. You are allowed only so many preparation points for a given class. You SHOULD do this first, then we can look at your budget and see where the dollars/time is best spent. I would be glad to do this with you. Any...

For those of you that did not make the "Oktoberfast", you missed a 130 MPH sprint to the death. Cool, jazzy driving music playing in the background, sunlight glinting off the Serengetis', beautifull blonds sitting next to us. People cheered us into the Manning lodge. For those that did come...Hey, w...

I have a a 3ld277 now with the .87 exhaust housing. I just got it rebuilt and also have a 1.25 exhuast housing I am going to try with the smaller camshaft. I stayed with it because of the big bearing. Again, it worked with all my parameters, so why not.

I pretty much agree with Rob, with todays technology, go with injection. It took me years to get the jetting / available boost / etc. to work with my carb. it is as fine tuned as it gets, but, as I saw with the big camshaft, I could not get it to run properly through that carb. If I was younger and ...
