Re: Another 72 510

Finally got to the trunk area along the seam where the trunk drop meets the floor, as gooned implied the tin worm was back there too! https://i.imgur.com/E82U17a.jpg New metal welded in (needs a little more grinding work) was just before 11pm when i finally called it a night! https://i.imgur.com/la0...

gooned wrote: 24 Mar 2019 19:13 Great example of why it’s called Tin worm.

Go man go!
Yes tin worm likes these old Datsuns, the way that the body panels are stacked one on top of the other is bad enough but looks like it sat before the car was dipped?
I am trying to keep the pressure on!

Re: Another 72 510

cwd240z I am planning to use a group 51battery (similar to what was used in a civic) 500cca. No it will not be flush with the floor it will be about 4" above the floor. I wanted to make sure that I did not cut into the rear brace between the body and rear bumper mount so a narrow battery like t...

Re: Another 72 510

Hey Keith, great to hear from you. Great pictures thanks... that's the last of that color and mirrors, hopefully the wheels as well. Seems like I have been in the metal work process for years. I can't wait to get into the mechanical portion (way more my comfort zone). Visited my local Nissan dealer ...

Re: Another 72 510

Between scraping undercoating and fitting patches, I also want to recess the battery into the trunk.

Re: Another 72 510

Thanks Fred_LP. I saw another build talking about the patch panels offered by Wolf Steel, I too bought them a couple of years ago and was not pleased by the fitment. Here is what I did with them... cut them up and used them to re-construct the inner wheel well. https://i.imgur.com/5KbjQTf.jpg https:...

Re: Jeff's '70 2 Door

You could try an air hammer to knock the bolts loose, but as RMS already mentioned sometimes the easiest way is to cut the bolts with a hack saw burn out the rubber with a torch (do this outside) then cut the outer metal sleeve or press it out if lucky.

Re: Another 72 510

Did you prep the surface before applying the por15? It's very important if you want it to be durable. https://www.por15.com/POR-15-Metal-Prep Otherwise it will probably peel off over the years. I did see that on the instructions, I did use a metal prep but not sure if it is the same as what is reco...

Re: Another 72 510

yes as mentioned Jordan did the swap in his and mentioned the parts that fit together. The factory 510 seat belt buckle (reciever) sits low on the floor and you need one that has the right length to meet up with the seat height, the Pathfinder fits the bill nicely! This belt from the 240sx has a fai...

Re: Another 72 510

Progress has been slow but still trying to keep moving forward, patched a few small holes in the drivers side floor pan. Then started work again to finish the structural portion of the rocker where it meets the wheel well. Got that piece fabbed up an welded in place. https://i.imgur.com/rTK67AD.jpg ...

Re: WTB KA24 water pump pulley/ housing

I did the same as Tank, just took a 1" thick piece of aluminum and used the old KA housing as a template and traced it on the aluminum drilled out the center and drilled out the mounting holes. Then I used a band saw and disc sander to shape the outside. I joined BCRWD (forum for all the drift ...

Re: Another 72 510

This past week seems like every day after work had me using paint stripper to remove the last of the paint in the engine compartment. Lots of contours in this area, makes it challenging and time consuming to remove the old finish. Got it sealed up with epoxy primer. https://i.imgur.com/qwav0op.jpg h...
