Re: butters68 build

I took this photo of the left rear backing plate of my '68 (vin 23,XXX) with the shoe hold down pin hangin' out.

Just to add to the mix!

Re: 1971 White S15 SR20DET

Anyone who has attempted TIG on sheet metal against thicker flange (my early attempts have long since become new steel beams in China) can appreciate this work, very nice

Re: What did you do on your 510 today?

The original vinyl was cracked and I had a half hide laying around (lazy cow) Leather is much easier to work then vinyl, it stretches and conforms very nicely. right rear trim leather.jpg rear back of rear trim leathe...

Re: Elighten me: Cutting Springs

Still looking for my future 510    You want an unflared, unmolested two-door (and apparently original), but you don't think you'll have enough money to do anything but chop stock springs? Aside from the fact that if you haven't found one by now you don't have the money, why waste ...

Re: 71' 510 Wagon

Joel,

Great work on the strut issue, nice to see new thinking/solutions.

I like to blur the line between saving a classic and building a ride the way you want!

Isn't metalwork cool? :D

Re: Led replacement bulb suggestions

I only know what I have tried. The LED bulbs that have all the lamps pointing straight out, don't illuminate the reflector and the lens appears to have a single point source of light, a "hot spot" in the middle. These are around 8-10 bucks. I decided not to use them cause they looked weird...

It may cause a long term issue (maybe the thick section you have created compensates for that?) Does the flexing/springiness of the ste...

For sure

Some people think you need $5,000 to have a decent, drivable 510 these days
Now we know why you are shameless :) ...what a great price, just about the cost of two bumper re-chromes!
