Re: What did you do on your 510 today?
Hey Rheis, So good to see you still have the 510 and are lurking about! You have no idea how funny your post is to me today. Last night, I was going through some of the drive videos we did back in 2008, 2009, where your car had the broken oil sender issue, and then the wonderful drive to the Interio...

Re: What did you do on your 510 today?
I thought I would post this up today as the site is very quiet these days; the heyday of activity has long gone. I had promised myself that when I retired I would get all my writing into one binder, my 49 years of my work history in Precious metals refining gold into a binder..…and…put my entire rac...

Re: The Great Rolling Dyno engine rebuild
The Test Drive OH My God....it lives!!!! I was so nervous yesterday heading to the shop for the first test drive with the new motor. I had not driven the car since I parked it in the fall of 2021, so virtually 2 years. On arriving at the shop Andy had already installed the air dam and installed the ...

Re: The Great Rolling Dyno engine rebuild
Morning! I have thought of that, but, have not really felt like hacking up a carpet to fit over my shifter console or cover my Aeroquip line. Let alone no seats or rear interior which does not help either..I have worn ear plugs for decades, a tip that was given to me when I was hillclimbing. That ju...

Re: The Great Rolling Dyno engine rebuild
Morning World! Yesterday, upon arrival, Andy wanted to double check the timing. He has had, in the past, the drive gear on the distributor shaft actually spin, throwing the timing off. So, we fired engine and at one point, got zero degrees advance!!!?? To eliminate the gear issue he clocked the moto...

Re: The Great Rolling Dyno engine rebuild
Morning World. Arriving at the shop yesterday had Andy telling me the timing issue was sorted, nothing major, so that was VERY good. The carburetor issue still needs to be sorted, as it appears that the float level is ok. It keeps dripping even when the fuel pump is shut off...a high float level wou...

Re: The Great Rolling Dyno engine rebuild
Morning World! Yesterday I went to the shop to finish installing my methanol system and air filter intake pipe to turbo. At the same time, Andy wanted to check the timing, where, he found the distributor is somehow out! At the same time, we noticed fuel spitting out of the primary booster venturi, s...

Re: ace028's 72 2 door
I would strongly recommend that you seal up around the radiator! You will decrease the efficiency of that nice rad by air spilling by it, those are very big gaps and you would be surprised at how air takes the path of least resistance.

Re: Idler arms
One funny story..kinda. Back when we built the 3 510's, Andy of course used these BIG rod ends. A fellow had come into the shop and saw how big these were and criticized Andy for such big and HEAVY rod ends. Andy said nothing. So, 2 weeks later, at a road race at our long closed Westwood race track,...

Morn'n!
I do not remember if they are lined, been in there so long and I only started keeping a log book in depth after we built the suspension.
here is a good article on rod ends. Pretty sure mine are Aurora:

Re: Idler arms
YES...40 years...NO exaggeration!!! Here are a few pics, not great. Funny, I have never taken clear pics of the suspension per se. Car is in shop on hoist, so on Friday I will take some good ones, should have them anyhow. These past 40 years saw 24 years of full on competition on 9.5" wide Good...

Re: Idler arms
This is the little drip bottle I use. We have used this product back in our winter riding mountain bike days, where it just really helped with keeping things lubed on the derailleurs, shifter's, cables, etc.. I use it in my throttle cable on the 510, hinges, etc., even a drop occasionally on the car...

Re: Idler arms
My car is not really an example of a daily driver, although I drove my car to all my race events, car shows, even through some massive rain/snow storms, plus canyon carving ( decades of that) that hit many rain events. My "rod ends" are not sealed and have been in service since 1983/84. Th...
