Re: Am I in over my head? '70 2 door from scratch

Same...I used the vapor tank and ran a line to underneath the car, low in the rear quarter panel.

This also makes a good safety if you end up on the roof, as the vent line becomes the highest part and will not leak fuel.

Re: The Great Rolling Dyno engine rebuild

I wish I could post up some of the 510 track days, files are so large. Maybe I need to pay a bit to download more for all to see on my Vimeo account. Many years ago when I talked to BAZ, he said the entry level horsepower with the SR for his customers was 350, with many at 450. Lag for response beco...

Re: The Great Rolling Dyno engine rebuild

While it is easy to throw numbers around...Andy estimated that my last engine made around 300 at the crank. We did a dyno day at Rocket Motorsports in Squamish in 2007 (engine was 6 years old), where the motor made 250 HP/ 240+ torque. basically to the rear wheels. For whatever reason, the fellow ru...

Re: The Great Rolling Dyno engine rebuild

Got the distributor in and timed the motor. Also took oil pump apart and was just fine, nothing gone through it, nor wear. Andy was painting my exhaust manifold with high heat paint when I got there. He will have to do a test fit of exhaust to manifolds to make sure it is square relative to the turb...

Re: moar good videos :P

THAT is too COOL!!!! Wow, what a coincidence that I posted this up. Furthest back I have ever been...in an old mine...was about 1 mile, freaky enough for me. It was a SOLID ore body that was mined out, so minimal roof failures. Yah, I'm not big on anything I have to squeeze through, that's where I d...

Re: moar good videos :P

A miscellaneous rambling here….and video link below Back in the 70’s, my family lived at the North end of Vancouver Island, in Port McNeill. At the time, it was still very remote, no highway going there, so the mass of tourists was yet to come. There were still areas of incredible remoteness and unt...

Re: The Great Rolling Dyno engine rebuild

Yes, it will be fun with a new motor, sure missed these last two summers. Here are some pictures from yesterday, as the Comp pan got put in place. That windage tray was made by a local Vancouver fellow, it has been in my motors since 1984. It has suffered a few cracks from vibration, which Andy has ...

Re: The Great Rolling Dyno engine rebuild

Engine update Oct. 27 Pistons arrived and checked out ok! The cir-clip that comes with the pistons is super hard spring steel, so, Andy made a special tool ( as he did for Jamie's motor), to install the clip. Yesterday Andy buttoned the engine up. Valve train is all setup, one helicoil was required ...

I love the drawing...it absolutely captures the World that so many of us have lived, working in a tight garage space, on our backs, on the cold concrete....

Good job on the floor repair!

Re: The Great Rolling Dyno engine rebuild

Stopped by the shop yesterday to see what progress was going on. Pistons being shipped today, so will be a week away or so. Andy working on my valve train, new Isky valve springs. Also as valves sit differently, he has to mill 0.050" off a few of the spring retainers to keep the rockers from hi...

Re: A Warning

I did see that Rob, I tend to follow most of the gold type heists around the World. People would be shocked of they actually knew how lax some so called security areas really are, that you pay big dollars for. At one point when I dealt with Air Canada, they just had a wire cage that was really nothi...

Re: A Warning

Thanks for the offer Mike!! Really appreciate that. Here is another of my stories to read while you have your morning coffee. Enjoy. The World of Gold Scams It always begins with a phone call. The person’s first question is how much gold we can handle. A lot I say. I will ask what do you have. Then,...
