Re: "Hey" my daily driven race car!

3:3.....Must be like having an over done baked potato between your foot and the gas pedal.....

I would not trade my short gears for anything, yes it turns some revs at highway speed, but the benefits for most driving far out weigh that. They also actually help you pull more top end in reality.

Re: "Hey" my daily driven race car!

Yes, when I put the 4:6's in, lsd and 20" tall race tires, my car became a rocket for acceleration, even before boost was up. I also ran a very small turbine housing, so boost was virtually instantaneous, totally needing the race tires as it was hard to control. Even then on tight courses, I tu...

Re: "Hey" my daily driven race car!

As I was thinking about this last night, it really hit me that trying to actually access changes DURING a solo event is well nigh impossible. You are in race mode. Unless there was a dramatic change and it was TRULY seat of the pants noticeable, many changes were to subtle to to notice, at least for...

Re: "Hey" my daily driven race car!

Ryan, we run 5 - 5.5 to really get the benefit, so go for 5 and try that, worst case if you do not like it is you can go back ( as you made the note in YOUR LOG BOOK ) as to what you started with!!!  You can also start a weight lifting program too, as that does not cost anything, start l...

Re: "Hey" my daily driven race car!

Duke, I Concur Capitan, that big castor makes the car a bear at parking lot speeds, but, the induced negative camber on a turn just makes it awesome. Even now, when I just sit and turn the steering wheel, I can see the outside tire lifting the front of the car, what does that tell you about how much...

Re: "Hey" my daily driven race car!

As my main discipline was Solo, the issue with those is the need for rapid, left / right change, without the rear catching you out, specially with a decreasing lineal slalom. Some long slaloms we had would be maybe 6 - 8 left/right's , so the car had to be able to rotate very quickly and with contro...

Re: LSD Break Away Touque...??

Just as a comment, for what it is worth, I hate the "lag" on my G35 with the VSLD. There is a most and disconcerting time lag from when you jump on the throttle, to when the car actually reacts to the diff locking up. As I can drive both cars, my 510 and the G35 back to back, I see it righ...

Re: "Hey" my daily driven race car!

REALITY...you don't, I am talking a good baseline setup, which is always a compromise when you encounter....RAIN...BUMPS & HEAVES, etc.. What you can change are tire pressures, maybe soften up shocks if you can for rain, add some weight in the trunk ( full fuel load), stuff like that. I used to ...

Re: "Hey" my daily driven race car!

As you all maybe have noticed, I'm old school the other way, I love to flip through pages and see the progression ( or regression) of changes and results. You can almost smell the old Castrol bean oil and DS11 brake dust back then. No matter HOW you do it, the documentation is the key...and the old ...

Re: "Hey" my daily driven race car!

Not sure how that was interpreted, so to clarify, my log book(s) go back to 1978, where the whole build of my existing 510 started and it's competition record.

Re: "Hey" my daily driven race car!

Speaking of LOG BOOK's, I hope you all are keeping one! You would be amazed as how the the years go by, you forget what you may have done. With a log book you can always refer back to a critical point, when things where working well, then you change things and it all goes south. I can look back to 1...
