Re: F20C in a 510
Hey guys, spent some time figuring out how to make the crossmember manufacturable. Although it's a fairly simple part SolidWorks' sheet metal tools do not like to play nice. I had to split the part into two pieces each bent from a piece of 13ga sheet. I'll play around with getting the model to play ...

Re: F20C in a 510
Thanks for the tip, Jeff. I actually already have an MR2 rack, I've just got to make some measurements on the mounting.

Re: F20C in a 510
Howdy fellas, I finished up the main crossmember design in Solidworks today, all that's left at this point is to play with the bends to get it to be manufacturable and to add the steering rack mounts. Once that's finalized I'll post a flat cutout diagram to cut the entire piece out of a single 13ga ...

Re: F20C in a 510
As I work at drawing up the crossmember it occurs to me that knowing the center to center mounting dimensions of the steering rack on the AE86/early MR2 crossmember would be helpful. There don't appear to be any on craigslist or in a junkyard in the area, do any of you guys happen to have that infor...

Re: F20C in a 510
I had to laugh reading this guy's review of some of the work done on that car ThatBoostedRotaryGuy 508 Pretty sure they used an angry badger to chew the dash openings. Next time, follow up with a finishing badger. It makes all the difference. That amused me when I saw it as well. It's always fun t...

Re: F20C in a 510
That's about the 6th of these swaps I've seen. A race shop in Oklahoma (I believe) did one, Larsen Race Cars did another, there's a poorly documented forum build for a third, one user on these boards has done the swap (But again, there is no good documentation of dimensions etc.), and I've seen one ...

Re: F20C in a 510
Made some significant progress on measuring the F22C's engine mounts today. I had found some sources that indicated that the engine was clocked at a 12 degree angle from vertical in the S2000. My measurements today seem to suggest that it is in fact clocked at a 15 degree angle towards the right sid...

Good to know, I'll stay away from them, then. Thanks for the info on your custom setup, Jordan. Maybe the scraping is just a symptom of trying to fit a spring where it shouldn't go.

Re: F20C in a 510
Interesting. The damage seems to have been confined to one of the two coilovers I received, the other one fit much better on the driver's side of my car and the passenger's side of the GC test car. It almost seems like it's a manufacturing error of some sort in the other coilover, but something like...

Re: F20C in a 510
Byron, I was actually looking for the pictures I took while trying to troubleshoot the issue, but they seem to have been lost in a phone reset. I do have some pictures of the damage which I have included below: http://i.imgur.com/FfkxkDI.jpg Here you can see the damage done to the lower spring cup b...

SOLD: Ground Control Rear Coilovers with 225lb/in springs
These are Sold. Hey guys, I'm selling my set of Ground Control Rear Coilovers. One didn't fit my car, the other did. I'm not pleased with the design of these parts so I'm selling them for cheap. Ground Control tested the coilover that fit on my car on their test car and it fit, but didn't test the o...

Re: F20C in a 510
This post got a bit long as I was writing it, so here is an abbreviated version: Ground Control coilovers don't fit our cars very well. Many people I've talked to had serious clearance issues and I ran into issues with both the lower spring cup impacting the hub and the shock body and spring impacti...

Re: F20C in a 510
Howdy again guys. This is just another quick update with a couple pictures. I'm back in Atlanta and have gotten into designing the new crossmember (thanks in large part to Icehouse). It looks like the MR2 rack is actually going to fit really well with the F20C, but I'll wait until I have a final des...

Re: Ground Control rear coilover issue
Thanks for the information, PMK. I was actually thinking about trying to get my money back and buying some Ermish coilovers. Will have to see how things settle after I get back to Atlanta.
