Re: justins (maybe track) car

Justin had the car appraised for his insurance. It sure is nice to see 510's getting respect. It was a very nice report. $21000cdn was the number with some upside to finish the interior. It still needs carpet and a stereo. It did turn out well and had years of collecting parts and saving the best fo...

Re: justins (maybe track) car

We made the trip almost trouble free. We stopped at a rest stop near keromios and it wouldn't start. I could smell gas so it seemed like it was flooded. Waited a while but still no go. I broke out the tools and removed the air filter. With the su's it's not that easy. I saw the choke was stuck and a...

Re: identification of nuts and bolts

Someone has messed with those hinges. The hinge is threaded for a bolt at the hinge to body.

Re: identification of nuts and bolts

On the left (m 8x1.25) is door hinge to body and trunk hinge to trunk lid. Middle (m8x1.25) is hinge to door. And on the right , (m6x 1) is hood , both hinge to body and hood. As well as fender to body.

Re: justins (maybe track) car

I am packing well. But no shovel. New headlights. They do help, and aiming didnt hurt. Heater works and I will grab a another new thermostat tomorrow. The basic wrenches and screwdrivers along with a small pail of nuts and bolts. As Justin didn't have the horde of part I do I'm trying to set him up....

Re: justins (maybe track) car

Well I'm never going to make it to feature build as I'm terrible at updating progress. I found the tranny howl with forum help. Tracked a vibration down to a bad rear wheel bearing. I had a bent stub axle. Or for some reason it has a stiff spot when spun by hand after install new bearings. A replace...

Re: 5sp tranny is howling

Thought I would update the group. I replaced the tranny mount with another one I had laying around. And it gave me the clearance between the mount nut and David's xmember. And the noise is gone. It was hard to imagine that the howling was normal tranny sounds. Thanks to the list for pointing me in t...

Re: Rear window latch issue

Fwiw. I just installed new latches on a car I've restored. I hadn't owned a 2 dr in years. I reused the old rubbers but when I went to try and close the window it didn't seem to want to snap closed. I was afraid I was going to break something. But I finally pushed it harder than I wanted too and it ...

Re: 5sp tranny is howling

I found Steve in Edmonton s thread and started to look for tranny to body contact. I was using what looks like a 240 tranny mount with David Carroll s xmember. One of the nuts on the bolt holding the mount to the tranny is making contact with the x member. Maybe the rubber has collapsed a bit. I wil...

5sp tranny is howling

I'm trying to troubleshoot the fresh restoration. I installed a unknown zx 5sp. I very loud howl seemed to come from it. New clutch and throwout bearing. Weird part is it goes away on a sharp left hand corner and gets a bit worse on rights. Sure doesn't seem like a wheel bearing. So installed a seco...

Re: Seat Belt Bolt Size and Pitch

What are the nipples that feed water to the intake and the little one in the thermostat housing. I picked up a brass plug for the housing and it screws in a little but didn't seem right.

Re: Newb

Hi Chris. I'm in Qualicum and have wrecked a few 510's over the years. So there are a few parts here. The problem will be the trim and delicate parts are gone or being horded for future projects. But let me know what you need and I will try to help. If your in the area and want to drop by, feel free...

Re: justins (maybe track) car

I've decided to try and make a 2 into 1 collector to make the job easier, read cheaper at the exhaust shop. Will go 2.25 from here back. And I've been back taping 6 mil poly to the upper door card trim molding and holding it to the door by pushing the plastic cup through. As you guys know it's all t...
