Re: 5sp tranny is howling

Thought I would update the group. I replaced the tranny mount with another one I had laying around. And it gave me the clearance between the mount nut and David's xmember. And the noise is gone. It was hard to imagine that the howling was normal tranny sounds. Thanks to the list for pointing me in t...

Re: Rear window latch issue

Fwiw. I just installed new latches on a car I've restored. I hadn't owned a 2 dr in years. I reused the old rubbers but when I went to try and close the window it didn't seem to want to snap closed. I was afraid I was going to break something. But I finally pushed it harder than I wanted too and it ...

Re: 5sp tranny is howling

I found Steve in Edmonton s thread and started to look for tranny to body contact. I was using what looks like a 240 tranny mount with David Carroll s xmember. One of the nuts on the bolt holding the mount to the tranny is making contact with the x member. Maybe the rubber has collapsed a bit. I wil...

5sp tranny is howling

I'm trying to troubleshoot the fresh restoration. I installed a unknown zx 5sp. I very loud howl seemed to come from it. New clutch and throwout bearing. Weird part is it goes away on a sharp left hand corner and gets a bit worse on rights. Sure doesn't seem like a wheel bearing. So installed a seco...

Re: Seat Belt Bolt Size and Pitch

What are the nipples that feed water to the intake and the little one in the thermostat housing. I picked up a brass plug for the housing and it screws in a little but didn't seem right.

Re: Newb

Hi Chris. I'm in Qualicum and have wrecked a few 510's over the years. So there are a few parts here. The problem will be the trim and delicate parts are gone or being horded for future projects. But let me know what you need and I will try to help. If your in the area and want to drop by, feel free...

Re: justins (maybe track) car

I've decided to try and make a 2 into 1 collector to make the job easier, read cheaper at the exhaust shop. Will go 2.25 from here back. And I've been back taping 6 mil poly to the upper door card trim molding and holding it to the door by pushing the plastic cup through. As you guys know it's all t...

Re: justins (maybe track) car

Well I've tackled the headliner and installed the gloss black firewall assemblies. I will satin coat black the dash cage and heater box. I had a late 69 in the junk yard and.am using that wiring harness. My thought is there are far less unnecessary relays. I just have to build the tach subharness an...

Re: WTB Libre Wheels

Does anyone know if the usedvictoria rims will fit on the rear of a lowered unflared 510. 8's are pretty wide. Im wondering if they could be used for autocross slicks.

Re: WTB: Wagon rear bumper + BRE front spoiler

Not that it matters much,as a sedan bumper fitsxwell on a wagon. Besides being longer, the quarter panel attachment tabs are different. A sedan bumper tab has the captive nut. On a wagon the captive nut is on the quarter panel.

Re: Headlight issue - 510

Remember when you have the relay apart to clean the grounding point. The screw that holds the relay to the base. Take it apart there and make sure the bottom of the relay and the base are clean. And when it is screwed to the car that is the ground. As well many headlight issues have been solved by s...

Re: justins track car

Might have to change the thread title. We have downgraded it a bit. No cage and a l20b to start. I've bought springs from specialty and porterfield shoes and pads. Just keeping it simple and get it running. Justin can enjoy it for a while and upgrade it as he figures out how he is going to use it. H...
