Re: Roadster!
Of course Mike was correct. I got out my metric and SAE tap sets and used the thread gauges to have a look at where the brake line comes in. Sure enough, the roadster cylinder is SAE there and the 510 is metric. So much for that, unless the roadie rear wheel cylinder sources completely dry up. That ...

Re: Roadster!
The front bleeders are super funky, flat bottomed things.i can't figure out how they function. Sure in practice you do the same things, but..

Re: Roadster!
crap. I hadn't tried the thread. I'll have to do that. another option is honing and rebuild, seems simple enough, never done it. Can that work reasonably well? Kits are ten bucks, plus I'd need a hone if it turned out the thread on the 510 one did work, I'd do both sides so they didn't vary in respo...

Re: Roadster!
Hmmm. A brand new 510 wheel cylinder vs the leaky Roadster one.

Re: Adventures of the Deathmobile (II)
After I get around to checking the valve lash, I may try that. I checked the line on the U20 in the roadster and I think it's the next step up in size.

He made a perfect approach, caught the nose, then bobbled and dropped it. In this last shot, it looks like he's got it. He didn't. IMG_6698sm dave about to drop the ka8.jpg The angle of the plane is because he's fighting a pretty high crosswind and trying to get on the correct line for a catch. He w...

Re: Adventures of the Deathmobile (II)
Today went flying at 3 Corner Rock. An absolutely foul road. Lots and lots and lots of rocks. 14 miles of plain rocks, 3 miles of driving on what might as well be crushed up bricks and bowling balls. Great views, good flying, no trees to dodge for landings. 4 volcanoes visible. Cool volcanic neck at...

Re: Roadster!
It's ALIVE!!! Drained old fuel, refilled with fresh. Drained old oil, refilled with fresh. Topped off radiator. Pulled the plugs, put some oil in the holes, turned it over, which it did immediately and smoothly, a good sign. Replaced the sparking bolts and wires, turned the key...started in 30 sec, ...

Re: Adventures of the Deathmobile (II)
At one point during my drive I thought hmm, I have messed with the needles and maybe I'm just running them too lean. So on the next big climb I deployed my unique to SU's, on the fly manual enrichment device. Otherwise known as the choke. On standard carbs it cuts the airflow to richen the mixture. ...
