You might have to change out the speedo drive gear in the tranny to get an accurate MPH reading. If so they are available from the dealer for way less they they are selling on eBay for. Contact Chad at Chico Nissan

Re: WTB bracket on firewall for carb linkage
Steve,
I had to move the carb throttle shaft bracket 3/4" -1" further away from the pivot bracket so the connecting rod was too short
Additionally the ball ends were pretty yellowed and (possibly) brittle, and the rods were oxidized.
Who am I kidding! I just like the shiny new bits!!!

Steve,
I did the same bracket conversion on my car, I bought these ball ends and cut and threaded round bar stock to make the connecting rods.

One of my girls colored the top with a magic marker, at one time I thought about cleaning it off but now it has such huge sentimental value I'm glad i didn't.

Re: Headlight polarity reversed on 1972 510
I have the same headlight setup however I used a dual relay setup where one of the headlight sockets plugs into a "male"socket which fires the headlight relays. I had no polarity problems with this setup. Plus I have full voltage to the headlights.

Re: Eletrical Problems
I noticed that i was getting some unacceptable voltage fluctuation so just for good measure I replaced the 60 amp alternator and voltage regulator. Other than swapping out the pulley it was painless. It holds a steady 13.8 V now. One question / observation, while checking my electrical system I saw ...

Tach light bulb sockets
I ordered a couple of these from Summit Racing to replace the illumination light sockets on my tach. They say they are for a 5/8" hole but they are a bit too big, however the holes in the tach were slightly enlarged due to the heat of the light bulb which allowed the original socket to fall out...

This is very tempting but my "CFO" says no more vehicle projects until after the master bathroom is remodeled.

Transmission differences
I'm currently running a five speed transmission which I believe is a truck unit. It has the speedo drive gear hold down bolt in the six o'clock position. And also has the fifth gear indicator switch. So according to the research I did is is the second generation model FS5W71B. It shifts fine but it ...

I have to agree with you when welding "Heavy Metals" Back in the day, we used to weld up alot of grease exhaust duct from 16Ga. Galvanized steel. it was not uncommon to get "Galvanized" poisoning especially when working in confined quarters. the immediate side effects could last ...
