Re: New swap-4G63T
Thanks for the feedback. I'm definitely working towards being more serious, but I'd like to keep the car streetable as well. As far as caster, that's what my guy put in, but I am somewhat limited due to tire diameter. I tried 5 degrees the first time I did my own alignment and the tire nearly ripped...

Re: New swap-4G63T
I took the plunge on a "vintage sealed" Audiovox CSS-100 cruise control. I'm hoping it will work on a turbo car. I should get a chance to test it out while the world is in quarantine and it should come in handy this summer when I head to the NW for Powerland (if it's still happening) and s...

Re: New swap-4G63T
Saturday I got the car dialed in on the new Silver Mine suspension and got an official weight for the car. Sadly, all that suspension tuning didn't turn into fast times at autocross on Sunday. I'm still figuring out how to drive and it's definitely tail happy at the limit. Turn in seemed better and ...

Re: New swap-4G63T
Silvermine site for the coilovers states "Shock tube diameter is 22MM" are the factory 510 struts and 280ZX strut casings identical with both measuring 22mm? Just making sure they will be adaptable to 280ZX strut housings. They had them miss-listed when I ordered. They do know the correct...

Re: New swap-4G63T
Here's a video that's way too long about my install of the Silver Mine Motorsports coilovers. I'll give another update with feedback in about 2 weeks after the next autocross on March 8th.

Re: New swap-4G63T
Fun vidoes! It's crazy to see how different driving styles can be. If I do the full grip smooth driving like you its can be over a second slower. My car to rotate the rear around most corners. Maybe it's just the video. Hanging the rear out is the fastest way with this car too. I'm just too chicken...

Re: New swap-4G63T
Autocross February 9, 2020. The car still had understeer due to lack of front end suspension travel. I have changed suspension set ups to the Silver Mine Motorsports since this event. I'm getting an alignment this week and the next event is soon, so I'll get a chance to provide some feedback. https:...

Re: New swap-4G63T
Here's a very short video of me on the highway coming home from autocross. I found myself without traction rolling into 3rd gear.

Re: New swap-4G63T
After that last autocross, I started shopping for new suspension parts. I've discovered that my front end is running out of suspension travel and bottoming out giving me understeer with the grip level I'm currently experiencing. My current set up is full length S12 struts with stock 280Z KYB inserts...

Re: New swap-4G63T
Bearing material in your oil could be an indication of crankshaft flexing from hugh boost torque. Typically what you see is front crankshaft bearing damage as the crank flexes in the middle it places a smaller area of the cranks journal on the bearing eating it up. I'm certainly not running "h...

Re: New swap-4G63T
Did you ever find out why you had bearing material in your oil? To much timing? I still don't know. The only thing I can really think of is that there was material in the head when it was rebuilt that hasn't been filtered out. I had really high oil pressure and I'm not sure the oil filter was doing...

Re: New swap-4G63T
Ultimately he said my engine revved too fast to time the loading. he gave me a token reading but said that it was not a true reading of my horsepower. We were thinking it might have been spinning on the dyno. Where my tires lined up was where the dyno brake was at, so the surface was smooth without...

Re: New swap-4G63T
So #4G63510 made its first dyno session over a month later than expected and its first ever. Right out of the gate on the street tune at 10psi it made 285whp. https://i.postimg.cc/nr8kbzHP/IMG-5356.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/FK7gYcz6/IMG-5384.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/yYyTts2L/IMG-5359.jpg We were tryi...
