Well I pulled the head on the Goon to find out the no compression issue on the #3 cylinder.

Yep, that’s do it!

It must have been an issue for some time to have cut that far through the valve.
The balance seat is likely also damaged beyond repair. Been a while since I’ve seen a burnt valve, thanks for sharing the photos.
It should be a pretty straight forward repair, aside from the rocker arms, everything else in the head is off the shelf parts and availability is still there.

Yes I had one burn on another motor way back it had two spots burnt and I was surprised it didn't break off and damage the cylinder. I cleaned it up to put it in the car when I go back to work next Tuesday. I'll find a good machine shop to bring it. I had rebuilt it way back do it has hardened seats in it. I probably took it out of the Goon way back because of the issue and did not remember it when I put it back in a few years ago but soon it will be better. Mike said it probably was because I didn't have it adjusted correctly. Any way the motor didn't have but about 5 thousand miles on it when I took it out so it will be good to have it fixed and running good in the Goon.

Morning World!

Not much exciting to report as the season winds down. We sure lucked out on that drive, as even the passes are now expecting some snow flurries.

Finally got my new exhaust pyro which I will try to get in place quite soon, so as to drive the car one more time before the insurance expires on the 22nd.

The last one lasted 19 years, crazy when I think of all the weird fuel combo's I have tried that are very corrosive. You can see how it finally fried the wires at the junction point.

The new one has a "packed" magnesium oxide filler to separate the two wires. The exposed tip makes for instantaneous reading of temp, which for me is important, as I hit the throttle on long uphill climbs, where temps can touch 1,600 - 1,700F.

If ever there was a testament to using Never Seize, this would be it. After 19 years the 1/8" NPT fitting came out of the exhaust manifold quite easily.

I spent a few days in the mountains camping and stopped in Hope to walk around the park in the core of town. The world famous chainsaw carvings are incredible, with master carver Ryan Villiers latest work..RAMBO..on a pedestal. For you none locals, Rambo was filmed in and around Hope,B.C..

Got the head and intake/exhaust gaskets for the Goon. Now just waiting on the machine shop with the head.

Also got a steering wheel hub to work on a 5 hole steering wheel I've had from way back.

The goon head will be ready this week so I'll pick it up next week when I go to work in New Orleans. Then get it on the goon shortly after that.
