I used the nice plastic tool again to remove the old adhesive and then to put the top and side in the little channels, the tool works great.

Keith-- What kind of plastic tool is that, shown in your photo and post from March 30, and where did you get it? I've got new seals (from Datsport) to install in my car and have been wondering what to use.

Morning Steve,

I got this at Home Depot....
https://www.homedepot.ca/en/home/p.caul ... 48365.html

One of the best cheap tools you can get for working on our body bits and pieces. I rubbed like hell on getting that old door trim off, and at least for my paint, it did not mark it at all. The edge is quite sharp, so it can get that thin layer of weatherstrip adhesive no problem, then just soak a corner of a course rag in Brake Clean, and that will get the rest off. The pointed end gets in those right angle corners just perfectly.

Start in the corner of the door, as that is your reference point. Just take your time and make sure the rubber is tucked under the body roll. Go an inch down both ways, just to snug it down, then you can just continue on. I would glue one side at a time, and let it set for a day. Run a small thin bead down the right angle first, then, hold the rubber seal away from the door and run a very thin smear down the sides that nest into the right angle. A helper is good as they can hold it away from the door, and, as you feed it into the door, just keep it from flying around and sticking where you do not want it to.

Hi Keith; Thanks for this info both about the tool itself and about how to use it. Either without the other is only half of what's needed!

Dropped the car onto the wheels this afternoon, almost ready to go. I will test fuel gauge in the morning.

I didn't actually do anything on my car today but I did stop by to see it at Specialty. Andy had all the new braking bits layed out. 12" front rotors and 11" rears. Wilwood 4 piston calipers all around and I will probably be shaving 50+lb of unsprung weight from the car.
If no one from the future comes back to stop you from doing it then how bad of a decision can it really be?

Sunday is looking to be a very nice day.

I saw you car at Andy's and I saw your tires there, so, I thought I would throw them on my car to give them a good test as they are the next generation from mine.

Is there tread wear warranty on those.......?

I hooked up the gauge this morning and.....it works just GREAT! I made sure the tank was topped up and it reads at the 3/4 mark, which is just fine.

Then, I hooked it up to my spare sender and slowly let the float come down, as though fuel was being used. The needle is rock solid as it comes down to empty, which, when the float was at the bottom, it did read empty. So, after this weekends drive, and my tank is low, I will pump out the balance of the fuel, then, add 1 gallon( CDN ) (4.454 litres) increments and see how it reads.

The new gauge was the same size as the VDO mount that came with my original turbo kit from 1973/74, which had the boost gauge in it. Bonus round as that make installation real simple. I will install gauge in the next few weeks.

I don't think my car will be ready for Sunday.

Hmm when I bought the tires they said no warranty given or implied. That is probably because of the 50 treadwear rating. It would be nice to know how they compare to the "old" version. I don't think my wheels would work on your car with the +35 offset.

Andy has a large press there, we will just "adjust" the offset...no problem!

After much contorting and cursing, I got my wires run and the fuel gauge hooked up. It is keyed to the ignition of course, powered off the back of my voltage gauge. Really looking forward to the test of where the gauge indicates as we get down to the last 2 gallons, which gives me about 40 miles.

I should use almost a tank of fuel on Sundays run, so that will make the re-filling test really easy.
