Thanks, I'd like to put a black stripe along the perimeter of the hood and trunk lids centered recess but my fine taping isn't so fine. Looked into having it pinstriped in but those guys want a lot of $$ for what I consider a simple job especially when I'm supplying the paint.

Lou, look into vinyl for the hood instead of paint.

Also, is that a Bofenkamp air dam? I still have a Dobi type with the rubber skirt.

Vinyl would be good I'll check into it. The front air dam along with front and rear fenders are original Quickskins pieces that the previous owner Brent Morgan got back in `79 that I eventually bought the 510 from in `93 and removed are reattached with modern auto body adhesives.

Decided I was done trying to find an uber-rare map light. I want the functionality, so I improvised. 2 "L" brackets, an LED panel from amazon, and a 2-way switch on its way. I plan on mounting the switch where the map light switch is supposed to go, across from the fan speed control.

Not much exciting really.

This year I head into the 20th year on this motor, which I find just staggering that it was that long ago now. 477.3 hours running time, which is almost 20 days of full running. We built it as a track day motor, 8,000 RPM capability, sacrificing some low/mid speed power for lots of top end. That ended up being a no-go as it got so hard to get the track, costs went up and people that would go to a track day virtually dried up, thus higher costs again.

As it was built, everyday traffic situations were a bear, a BIG cam and that modified carb's secondary. Great for our long days on the road, but as they have diminished, I have de-tuned things to work better at normal traffic flow. I took that big cam out when I had an issue getting out into traffic, when the motor just fell flat on it's face, when I jumped on the throttle. I think this season I might go back to my "smaller" carb, just for having the major drive-ability.

Our draconian speeding laws too, have just tempered things too, at least for me. Being at the spearhead was dangerous at times in terms of getting a ticket, with only one down in the States, thankfully nothing here.

I put on 36,447 Km (22,648 miles), which says I averaged about, 1,100 miles a season. Some were less, some as high as 2,000 miles a couple of seasons.

This is the first year that I have NOT insured the 510 in April, just lacked enthusiasm with all the Covid BS, temperatures still cool for working on the car in the garage and zip for room anyhow. I have to get Matt to help me check that the methanol system works WHILE it is on jack stands so hopefully this weekend get that done, roll it out and bleed the brakes and clutch. Then drive over to Specialty for a day of making sure all is good with sub-systems, and I possibly have to change out the turbo, which has a suspect haze of oil on the bottom of the compressor housing. Will pull inter-cooler out and see what is going on, if oily haze present or not.

Made some headway on updating my fuse box, as I decided upon what I wanted to use as the tray to hold the new fuse boxes and future electrical components. Yeah, I decided to use some license plates I had laying around. Used JB Coldweld on the join and plan on using some aluminum bar around the edges to provide some rigidity; 2 hinges to the firewall and two clasps to the dash. Coated the back with plasti-dip. (By the way, why is a rubber coating called "plasti-dip"?

Also, finished adding the switch for my map light. Mounted in the appropriate location, but with a different style of switch. Off lines up with the "Off" mark, and on lines up with the "on" mark when switched on. Pulls a Neg from a bus bar and will pull a Pos from an ACC source...as soon as I sort my blade fuse rewire out (see post in electrical).

Also, used some Reslone additive, and, holy Jebus! This stuff really makes a difference for our L engines! Only used half a bottle and it quieted lifters right down. Seriously impressed!

Well, its more of what I did over the past few days. I replaced my rear control arms bushings because the inner metal tube had slipped causing the control arm to rest up against the crossmembers pivot brackets. I had a set of the bushings I picked up from a well known 510'r years ago but noticed the inner tube on one was skewed some. Ended up realizing the inner tube and rubber were not glued to each other like OEM bushings plus the thickness of the tube was a far cry from OEM units that I ended up having to purchase. All in all my home made tool to pull out the old and pull in the new bushing worked great plus I set the bushings in the freezer to shrink them down for easier installment and didn't have to do any burning.

Forgot to include the tool. It's missing a sleeve to pull the bushing through as I forgot to include it.
