Still has all the interior panels too. The top door trim looks nice but that may have to come off or be retained with a safety as theres guy who was killed at sears when I was doing national races from that trim coming off and . You can guess the rest. Derek? Can't remember now but i think his was regional Gt4..

I broke it more!

I cant quite explain this caliper failure... Stuck piston, attempted to force it to move, then it had a "blowout" hahaha

Today I rolled the car out and over to Specialty where I checked out the water and methanol spray.

Andy saved me a ton of time, as it turns out he has a "bore" scope, so, instead of having to take a ton of piping out to see if the 2 sprayers are working, I just removed the lower section that has the air cleaner attached, then, with Ricardo holding the bore scope way up the pipe, looking right at the nozzles, I pressurized the methanol system. The LOW sprayer kicked on at 10 PSI and the HIGH kicked on at about 12 PSI boost and the flow was good.....DONE!

That bore scope is cool, I can see that being used in a lot of places.

The water spray was ok, I usually don't have an issue with that, The "fog" nozzles are .020" but have a screen before them plus I run a small filter, so not much can get through.

Drove back in rush hour on #99, that was scary, what a gong show these days, glad I'm done with that crap.

Car ran really well again. My glove box light got it's first test, glad I did that, nice and bright.

Just going to tiddly up a few more small things, try and get that shift boot changed as mine finally split 2 years ago and needs to be replaced.

Finished the rebuild of the heater unit. Replaced what O-rings I could in the valve....all but one I think. Had the heater core flushed and re-soldered...tanks were showing some corrosion. The metal bits were sandblasted. I liked how the looked without paint so I kept them as-is and sprayed some clear coat on. Included some new foam bits and new hoses. Gave all plastics a good wash with dish soap.

After pulling the removing the AC unit and pulling the heater unit I was able to get a great understanding of the wiring shenanigans. Pulled the aux tach off and removed all the wire-splices. Also, replaced a few of the connectors that were ruined by the PO. Finishing up the wiring cleanup soon, the remnants you can see on the floor. Ordered new plugs for the firewall and wire gromets too. Added a constant-on wire for my Battery-Prog-Brain...hope it's the right one (Black/White). NOT going to mess with the wiring harness...just get it back to stock. (maybe with the addition of a map light and glovebox light...if possible.) Thought about pulling out the stock fiberglass-board that insulates the firewall....maybe another day.

As usual, one thing leads to another. This all began with an issue I had with my U67, which is described over on ratsun....so much to do.

Replaced a front outer tie rod then did a string alignment thennn took the 510 out for a 10 mile jont. Fun drive in the warm dry weather before this weeks rains started lastnight which is nice as it washes away the winters road salt. Just about ready for the drive down to West Virginia to Summit Point Raceway for the Annual East Coast 510 Meet. Been a couple years since I've been there due to driving one year out to Canby, then the next year (last year) out to Road Atlanta. Two great drives with the best of friends.

So, the "while I'm at it" bug has bitten.

My fresh air vents are in okay condition. Some green showing through where chrome used to be. The ducting itself needs to be cleaned and resealed, so I'm looking into that. But, along the way I needed to rent a vehicle, which turned out to be a 2018 toyota carolla. Okay car I guess, but what caught my attention was the super cool vent registers it used nearest the front doors. They looked the right size, had some cool functionality, and darn it, I think I want to put them in the Datsun. So, I found a pair at the JY for $35. New, they are $135 each. I plan on using 3d printed adapter plate to mate between the vent registers and the dash. On to the pics:

Took apart all my steering components including cross member and sold them two day ago. Went on James Boswell CoachWerks website and took a leap forward into the rack and pinion steering for my car. Super exited and glad I finally made my order.

I'm in the middle of doing this conversion and pretty happy with everything so far. I will say be sure you read through the instructions well and also dry test fit everything when you get it. I found some of the hardware wasn't sized correctly in the kit as delivered.

I managed to "seemingly" solve my rear brake issue with a set of rear calipers from another Datsun guy... Knock on wood...

Then changed out a VG30 head temp sensor with a Nissan OEM unit, adjusted the timing belt, only to find out I've actually over tightened it....

*facepalm*

Drove the car home and washed it, then long way back via car wash place to vacuum interior and seat.

Ready to roll out to Mission via the back roads, to be at track for 8:30.

Sure nice day for what I did, good temp for motor and got some full on boost going up a vacant South Surrey road..... :D :D :D

Well I didn't actually do anything but open the box and install the rack and mounts to the cross member. Exciting times ahead for sure.
