Re: Post Pics Of Your RARE datsun Parts
I have a new taillight panel in the basement but no pic. I do have this Nippon Datsun Club grill badge:
Re: Post Pics Of Your RARE datsun Parts
Has anyone ever thought about trying to have some of these panels made overseas?
It just hurts to think that when these nos panels are used they will be gone forever

Re: Post Pics Of Your RARE datsun Parts
I'm sure lots of people have thought about it, but it all comes down to money. The up-front costs to get a large body panel recreated and produced exceeds the ready funds for such a venture from any 510 owner I know.
Recently hammer_down here on The Realm looked in to the cost of getting the eyebrow trim pieces reproduced.
http://www.the510realm.com/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=15516
The short of it was ~$20,000USD to get 250 pairs of eyebrow trim produced in plastic.
As long as you can still get a complete car in good condition for a few thousand USD, offshoring panel reproduction is a non-starter. And when you can no longer find 510s in good condition for a few thousand USD we'll all be SOL.

Here is my NOS sheet metal
Re: Post Pics Of Your RARE datsun Parts
OK, I found a ridiculous OEM spare part today while working on the Memorial Car – it came with the car, so I absolve myself of all liability, I'm sure it's rare, as I really wonder who would actually buy a new one... a brand new, in the box, PL510.... Air Pump!

That has to be rare - as they didn't last that long.
Finished is better than perfect......
Re: Post Pics Of Your RARE datsun Parts
About 4-years ago, fellow Realm member e510 and I chanced across a guy that was selling the leftovers from a long-closed Datsun dealership. We bought everything he had and kept what we needed for our projects and sold the rest:
This is just part of it-- There were hundreds of boxes of all sorts of obscure stuff like that smog pump you posted Byron! Lots of good treasure too!

that's crazy. Good find!
would it be hard to fiberglass a fender if you had an old (non rusty) one.

It would be much easier to buy a FG fender, unless you work in composites. The mold is a bit more complex than just the fender skin, since you have to bolt it on. Plenty of FG parts in the used market, and for parts that don't need much fuss to bolt on a street car, see futofab.com.

'68 or '69. I thought the cabin vents pointed up, which threw me for a second when you posted that eBay link to the LH SSS with the cabin vent pointed down. Weird.
But very nice.
