1972 Datsun PL510 Wagon
Just got it, holes in the floors and all. Runs great, but for the very loud bearing noise in the rear and the struts/shocks that must have gave up the ghost a few miles back.
Plan on making it sound and safe and take if from there.
Not many in the Bmore area.
1963 Oldsmobiel F-85 Cutlass
This one is done! A great car that I have had for 15 years.

I have been keeping my eye open for a 510 2 door for quite a while now and SUPRISE!!!! It found me and was only 40 minuets from my house. I am a Nissan fan and have been for a long time. Not that I know allot about the older ones but i FINALLY get a chance to dirty my hands on a sweet old Import.
It has an L16 with a Webber carb, updated ignition system, New clutch, Front coil overs, F & R Sway bars (not sure if they are stock eq or not)
Body is in fair condition for the year. It has it's share of rust but for the most part it is very restorable.
I would like to maybe run a couple scca auto X events with it before I tear into it but need to address the ball joints and passably get some camber plates and a strut tower brace before I do. The important thing is that it is in the garage out of the weather for now.
Other cars:
Boosted 2002 Nissan SE-R Spec-v
and a 1992 Chevy S10.

Welcome to the forum Chuck. Did you buy the red wagon from Mike in Silver Spring? I am in Potomac and I would love to see you make it to the East Coast Datsun 510 Meet next month. See this thread for more info.f85guy wrote:Name: Chuck

BTW, I used to have a 215 V8 from a 63 F85 in my 510.
Let us know how we can help with the wagon.
Enjoy The Ride!

Currently (but slowly) working on a '71 510 4-dr. Have repaired holes in the body, rollcage installed and removed any weight I could. Have a KA24E (from '89 240SX) installed and running but needs lots of work to get on the road.
I have (4) PL510 parts cars plus a complete and stock '72 510 2-dr auto. The parts cars are in really rough shape but the 2-dr is pretty decent. It's been sitting for a long time though.
In the late '80's I did some rallying and ice-racing in 510's. What a great car for throwing around and having fun. Got my first 510 about 1983 when I was waiting in a junkyard for the guy to stop chatting with his friend. A fella pulls in with a rusty 510, started talking to him and ended up buying it on the spot for $50. Took it to our farm up north and drove the stuffing out of it but couldn't kill it. That same car won the 1988 Ontario Ice Racing Championship in Studded class. Never did do anything more to the motor than change the oil! Then university and marriage put an end to the racing. Hoping to make a comeback one of these days though
Looking forward to the extra power from the KA. I'm trying to get it done on the ultra cheap so doing the work myself (with help from my brother, David).
Great idea--"Who are you". Excellent site here and has been a lot of help over the years, many thanks. Long live the 510!

Got my first P510 when I left school. Had 2 more as I wrecked the others. Had avariety of vehicles since then untill I bought my current one out of a deceased estate. I am only the second owner. I always wanted to do a rebuild where money was almost no object. Very difficult when you are married. Anycase, started with an original budget of $5000. Ended up spending 3 times that on a "back to original" rebuild. It took me a year to do it. At the end of the day I'm quite chuffed with how it turned out
