Where to buy jets for the Weber 32/36 DGV carburetor?

Postby Butts » 09 Jun 2015 11:55

Hello all,

I just brought home my first 510 and she runs great; the PO had installed a brand new Weber 32/36 DGV 5A carburetor before I bought her. So far, the stock L16 (and stock 210 head) seems to run fine on the Weber's factory jet setup, except for a tendency to bog down and stall when applying the throttle from a stop/slow roll. I want to try going up a size or two on the main idle jet to see if that helps.

Before I spend a fortune buying one jet at a time, can the Realm point me towards any vendors that sell jet kits tailored for the L16 engine? Most jet kits on eBay seem to be on the bigger end, and don't include emulsion tubes either. Any leads are appreciated.

You could these people: http://www.redlineweber.com/

or, give Jim a call at Overseas : http://overseas-auto.com/

He is VERY familiar with 510's.

I would first check and make sure you're accelerator pump is actually pumping fuel as you depress the throttle. If not that's the source of you off idle stumble/bog. If its fine any holly carburetor main jets fit which you can get at any speed shop providing there are any in you're area which I'm sure there are. Another way is pickup a set of jet reams/drills and just open them up yourself.

Usually a bigger Idle jet will help the most

Yup, that was the first thing I checked- I can see a decent squirt when I hand-blip the throttle. Also, it doesn't bog if I stomp on it during cruise, only when coming off of idle, which is what leads me to suspect the auxiliary/progression circuit isn't doing its job (that, and a really thorough post on here from Keith Law back in 2008).

I just drove by a speed shop/Holley carb specialist in Cocoa, FL yesterday. I'll give them a call, thanks for the suggestion. Should I just buy two sizes up from the Weber's factory-installed 0.55mm to start?

I'm with Dr510, try increasing your idle progression jet.

Ordered a 0.60mm primary idle jet from pierce manifolds, and put it in last night. After a quick test drive, it definitely fixed the bog that would occur when applying throttle from a start; it's amazing the difference 0.05 millimeter can make. It changed the idle a bit too, I suppose it's idling a bit more rich now, so I'll be adjusting the mixture screw tonight to try to lean it out a bit.

Thanks for the advice guys.

I have found, at least for me, that a slightly rich idle just works well.

Rich being in the high12's low 13's
