Grease Question...
Grease Question...
Not specifically Datsun related - but I wanted input from people on this board who tend to KNOW things!
I have a 2004 VW passat. Car came with Autotech sway bars on it with their associated poly bushings. The front bar mounts squeak quite a bit. I have used a few types of grease, but with very short lived results. The bushings are in great shape, but I am hoping for a grease that will do its job for a longer period of time.
I have been reading other forums, and a lot of people are suggesting a marine based grease - as it will stay in place longer. I haven't been able to determine if the grease will be harmful to the bushing.
Autotech recommends a waterproof moly based for cv joints. I come up with all types of options - but not sure where to head.
Any recommendations?

Re: Grease Question...
I use a silicone grease on my anti roll bar. It is waterproof ( not that I drive in the rain a lot ) and safe for rubbers and poly type bushings. I have had no issues with my Delrin either.
As I have had access to laboratory equipment over my working career, what I have SPECIFICALLY, is made by Dow Corning, for high vacuum, glass stoppers, etc. It is crazy slippery and stays in place, period, no weeping or creep. I'm sure any silicone grease would be just fine, as it is inert.

Re: Grease Question...
Morning James,
Go figure, no part # on it, but, it is common. I have attached a link:
http://www.amazon.com/Dow-Corning-Vacuu ... merReviews
Figures it would show up on Amazon.....What can't you get from those guys?!
I have used it on many things. The tube I have has lasted me for over 30 years now. It takes very little to leave a nice layer.
Read some of the reviews, and as one fellow said, be careful of what you get it on.
