2 door doors

Postby dat14u » 25 Aug 2016 17:20

Hi all.
My name is Andrew.
I live in Australia.
I haven't posted on here much over the years but have enjoyed reading builds and tech info.
I have been playing with 510s since the mid 90s.
My current car has morphed from a stock 69 through various guises and up until last week was a 350whp track only beast.
As of last week it will be totally srtripped and rebuilt with new suspension and a mid mount vq35hr-t.
Videos of it in action on youtube ajp510t.
As part of this build I am going to convert to 2 door.

My question is would anyone be willing to locate, put on a pallet and ship to Aus a pair of front doors complete?

If not I'll just make the doors longer but Ide rather have a functioning drivers window.

Or even just a passenger LHD window, mechanism and frame rails.

That sounds like a serious project. Look forward to the build thread.

What's your basic plan to get the power to the rear? FWD version of the VQ?

When converting from 4dr to 2 dr, I would highly recommend also aquiring the B pillars as well. The rear edge of the 4dr doors has a slight arc towards the front of the car from top to bottom to bottom when viewed from the side, the 2dr doors has an arc in the opposite direction, curving towards the rear when viewed in the same direction. I guess anything is workable, but it would save you a pile of time if had the 2dr B pillars to match the 2dr doors.
It also would hurt to squire the 2dr 1/4 windows as well, then you have the complete picture for the conversion.

Keep us posted on this project.

Thanks guys.
There is a build thread on ozdat.
Power to the rear via a tailshaft and diff.
Rules stipulate rear of the block can't go through the centreline of the wheelbase.
I am going to graft FD3S front and rear suspension into it.
Thanks Byron. Now that you mention it I had read that but in one ear and out the other.
I will add b pillars to the list if doors are doable.
