Old Surrey 510 wagon to locate

Post by powerbench »

Ok here's a long shot.
There was a guy back around 91-94 that had a 510 wagon ,full cage stretched 4 inches in the front end .It was running a big block Chevy( 468 with a power glide) I think his name was Donnie. Does anyone know where the car is or got to? If the price was right you never know .....I believe he lived in the Prince Charles Blvd area of Surrey.

I don't know if it was the same car, for a short while there was a guy I talked to a guy with a rather rough looking white wagon that matched your description in Maple Ridge in the late 90's running a solid mounted mouse motor. But the car had a very well engineered (for strait line) rear ladder bar system and huge tubs to accommodate some serious rubber in the rear. All under stock bodywork and all doors were functional.

I never saw the car again after talking to the guy once.

Hey Byron,
That could have been it .I seem to remember it having blue fenders....or the car was lite blue, or the section of the fenders was blue . When I last saw it it had a big block in it , and sounded like a freight train coming down the road . He was friends of a friend of a friend.

You know - this might be the car - just got posted on CL today;

That solid mount engine plate mount looks like the same set up. And the car was obviously white originally. But that paint looks old already...but I guess it could be. If I saw it in the mid 90's, that was 25 years ago. Man, where does the time go!

Come to think of it , it probably isn't the same car....I remember the front end was stretched 4-6 inches and it had a tube chassie. Now if I had the space ......406 small block , powerglide, 4:88 gear, 4500 stall , and tie that front end to the cage .....could make for a fun street /strip car

I seem to remember a blue 510 wagon quarter mile car called Money Pit that was sponsored by Mopac. Found these pics from the 2015 Ashcroft Old Time Drags and it looks like he's got a new sponsor. Front doesn't look stretched tho... :roll:

Maybe it's not stretched...I'm not really use to seeing a 510 without inner fenders or strut towers.

That one looks closer to what I remember ( big block included). I know the one was street legal when it was around here .
