"NOT I !" said the little Red 510.....

I shoveled my sidewalk, the neighbors on each side, plus the 94 year old lady's next door to me, back driveway, for when the care worker comes.

Tired of winter, still snowing here, -4. I parked me vehicles out back as the insane snow plow driver comes down our front street at 60KM, blasting crap at the sides of vehicles, really pisses me off, did some rock chips last year on my new Odyssey.

He damn near killed a kid across the street, to the point the parent phoned the city, but obviously to no avail this year.

Yeah when it snows just better to be somewhere else. I mean park somewhere else. I think a good 100cm Sun. I shoveled s/w. Monday night it snowed again so 8-10" total now. Didn't go to work again today but shoveled my wife's car out.... again and she left. Every time I look outside it's snowing, like right now, and there's another inch

Robin, I’m highly envious!
I don’t have a 510 I’d take out in the snow, I wish I did. I do hold onto those memories of the days where I was rallying in the winter for hours and hours on end - great fun.
I took the Armada out this morning in the fresh snow. No one was driving, it was great. But even with all the grannies turned off - they aren’t really off! It’ll allow you to slide a little then burrr, burrr, burrr and you’re straight as an arrow taking off like I could only imagine I could have in the 510 back in the day! And by the time 3 seconds has past, that 380 ft/lbs of torque and all four wheel biting in have propelled that 6500 or monster to a seriously unsafe speed to stop. So I just don’t do it! It safer, faster, more practical and absolutely no frickin’ fun at all! And on top of that, the heater works awesome (both front and rear) without burning you calf off while the rest of you freezes and the windows in the 510 still are not defogged!
It’s just not the same. Like I said, I envy you!

all this shovel talk makes me thankful for my little digger, a 25hp bobcat 320

man I wish my heater could burn a calf, fan and ducting are tight, easily clearing the hazy stock windshield, just no btu's. I put a fan on the parcel shelf of Mandy's Daily to keep the back clear and she runs a heated seat cover to keep things toasty.
but you should be envious of Mandy. shes been out 5 days a week from Richmond to Langley in her stock red 4dr with 200 tread wear tires on the bars.
I tried to get her into the Datsaru but she wasn't having any of it.

I really miss going out in my GTS Corolla. I would put 3 bags of soda ash over that right wheel, full tank of fuel, REAL snow tires...I went everywhere in that thing. Remember that big snow storm in the 90's, I drove to Specialty in New West in 1-2 feet is snow, did all the hills in New West at Andy's shop, never missed a beat.

Oh for the good old days...Don't miss having to deal with Vancouver drivers though. Matt and I went into Vancouver to "rescue" my daughter in laws car at 10 Pm the other night, you should have seen the mayhem at the Alex Fraser, 2 semi's jack-knifed, one collected some cars, so south bound was DONE! IT took over 3 hours apparently to clear it all up.

I remember that snow fall well - New Year’s Eve - 1997. We got 78 cm’s of snow in 24 hours. It was crazy. For a city like Vancouver which deals with maybe a few snow days on average every year - with maybe 5-10 cm’s on average each time - that snow snow call in 97 was epic! No mater where in the world you are, that’s a crazy amount of snow. I too has a 510 with good winter tires that year, had a blast! But I also remember that when I went home to Victoria at the time, cars had been mandated off the roads, emergency vehicles only as there was no snow removal equipment in the city, and only one lane was plowed on any road. When the ferries finally got going, and I did make it back to the island. The biggest problem was when I got near home is that because my car didn’t come out of a hole in the snow, I had no where to put it when I arrived. And there wasn’t a shovel to be found on the island. I literally cut out a hole for my car in the 3’ snow bank using my hands and a bucket.
Fun times.

Very jealous. This year will be the first in almost 20 years that I won't be going to the mountains in the winter :(

I dug and dug but must have tossed out my studded tires for the 510. Gotta find another set. So I was stuck driving the newly acquired 1986.5 D21 4x4 which is a beast in the snow. Although it does need a turbo. Could use a bit more power. It’s no 510!!!
