This 1971 Datsun 510 is a modified two-door sedan that was sold new at Stigall Motors of Palo Alto, California
and reportedly remained with its original owner until 2007. The car was acquired by the seller five years ago and
has since been fitted with a Rebello Racing–built 2,360cc Z22 inline-four equipped with JE pistons, Mikuni
carburetors, and an Ermish Racing header. A 5-speed manual gearbox from a Nissan 240SX was installed in placeof the factory automatic, and modifications added by the seller include a stainless-steel exhaust, 3.90:1 limitedslip differential, 14” RS Watanabe wheels, a coil-over suspension, and more as outlined below. The seller hasdriven the car approximately 3k miles, a number of which were accumulated during the 2015 and 2016 runningsof the California Melee rally. This 510 is now offered with a spare 5-speed manual transmission, service recordsfrom new, and a clean California title in the seller’s name.
Originally finished in Spanish Red (664), the body reportedly received a repaint in a brighter shade of red
approximately 10 years ago, and the work did not include refinishing the door jambs, trunk, or engine bay. The
rear badging denoting the automatic transmission was removed and its mounting holes filled, and the trunk lid
and a door were repainted by the seller to address clearcoat peeling. Close-up photos of the current finish are
provided in the gallery below.
A 360-degree view of the car can be seen in the video above. 14″ x 6.5″ RS Watanabe wheels are wrapped in
Falken Azenis tires. Amber taillight lenses were installed, and the car retains a 6-digit blue California license plate
out back.
The interior features black sport seats from an E30 BMW, a replacement carpet kit, and a 3-spoke competition
steering wheel. Sound deadening was added to the floors, firewall, and door panels, and a Speedhut 3-gauge
pod is mounted below the period AM radio.
More than 53k miles are shown on the 5-digit odometer, approximately 3k of which were added under current
ownership. A tachometer and a Tomei shift knob have also been installed, and the seller notes a stripped shift
boot screw.
The 2,360cc inline-four features a Z22 block that was built by Rebello Racing of Antioch, California in 2017 and
has been bored to accept forged 89mm JE pistons. Rebuilt Mikuni 44mm carburetors are equipped with trumpet
intakes and matched with a Ray Reed Racing manifold that feed a stainless 2.5” exhaust through an Ermish
Racing Cerakote-coated header. Maximum output was recorded at 242 horsepower at 6,600 rpm and 220 lb-ft of
torque at 5,000 rpm during a 2018 dyno test; video footage of the test is available here, and a printed report is
presented in the gallery below.
A 5-speed manual transmission sourced from a Nissan 240SX was installed in place of the factory 3-speed
automatic, along with a 280ZX clutch kit, a lightweight flywheel, and a 3.90:1 limited-slip differential from a 2004
Subaru WRX STI.
The car has been lowered with a set of Stance Suspension coil-overs up front and Ground Control coil-overs at
the rear. ST Suspensions sway bars have also been installed, and additional suspension work is documented on
the list provided in the gallery.
Service manuals, warranty booklets, and over 100 invoices since 1971 are included in the sale, highlights of which are viewable in the gallery. Also shown are the spare 5-speed manual gearbox, factory front seats, wheels, tools and a set of tires. Driving and start-up videos are viewable below.

I still can’t figure out how to do that copying and posting pics or I would have a whole bunch of parts for sale. I will say this though. After checking the buyers web site it is obvious to me this is an anomaly.
