FYI .... Yamaha use the EXACT same nut to hold the wheel hub and axle together in the 2004 Yamaha Grizzly ATV. I bet it's the same on other Yamaha models.

More goodness... When resealing 510 steering gear box, use Timken 24x35x7 metric seal (summit racing has them)for lower pitman arm shaft. The upper seal is still available from Nissan. Still trying to find the oring...

Fidanza L16,18,20B Aluminum Flywheels with 200mm clutch

Postby Byron510 » 08 Feb 2018 09:17

fidanza #143121 for a 77-79 200sx with an L20b (use with roadster clutch and PP)

OK, I needed to add a little revision to this previous post from only a few days ago :-)

I've called Fidanza this past week as my shop mate needed a friction kit for his, and my old 5 bolt L16/18 Fidanza flywheel. paul was concerned as there is no listing for the part in Fidanza's catalog anymore, and even wondered if his flywheel is a Fidanza unit - the later to soon be confirmed. I'm not sure if anyone else ever made an aluminum flywheel for the L16/L18.

Anyways, updated as follows;

PN 143121 - L20B 200mm clutch, 6 bolt flywheel, still in stock as of today
PN 143451 - L16/18 200mm clutch, 5 bolt flywheel, still in stock even though it's no longer in the Fidanza catalog online

Friction kits (come with bolts);
PN 228001 - 200mm dia,16 bolt, in stock - $55 from Summit
PN 228001-20 200mm dia, 20 bolt used prior to 2004, in stock

Currently Fidanza will not sell direct, so you need to go through a dealer like Summit, Jegs, Lordco ect.

Fidanza can be reached at 440-259-5656 and their catalog is here - https://fidanza.com/wp-content/uploads/ ... a-2017.pdf

The lady I talked with said they would continue to make these components for our old Datsuns as there are still requests, and as long as Fidanza can continue to source the ring gears for the flywheels.

So it's good news that the applications most of need are still available.

Is it possible you have a Tilton flywheel? Fidanza typically has their name and part number etched on the back side of the wheel. You know you can get the disk resurfaced without removing it. I had it done on one i used to run on my LZ2.2 cost me like $30 easy $$

It’s possible that this is a Tilton, not sure if there were other brands made. But there are no PN’s etched which Fidanza said there would be if it was theirs.
We'll find out shortly if the Fidanza friction plate will work.
Resurfacing wasn’t an option, a ceramic puck type friction disc was used and it chewed the surface right down to the screw heads. I suggested to Paul, for the output that this motor has, to simply use a stock Roadster Nissan disc in the future. It’ll just be easier on things.

Thanks Lou. I’ll let you all know how it goes.

Byron I had installed a Fidanza aluminum flywheel on my car back when it still had the L16. I think Robyn has it now. I can look back and try to find the part number.
If no one from the future comes back to stop you from doing it then how bad of a decision can it really be?
