RE: 12/73?

Post by jason »

I'd like to see a picture of the engine plate with an L18 in it. That would show ICBC that a 510 could have a L18 in it for collectors plates.

Mine is a '73 but I have to wait until work is over so I can verify the actual date. I too have the fiber optic back lit headlight and wiper controls and the 100 hp plate. I will check this evening and get back with you. I heard that if it is a true '73, it will be a 2 door because 4 doors were not made for '73. Can this be confirmed as well?

Thanks

Hang510, so only the 2 door production continued for the '73 model year? Or do you mean production stopped by 12/72??

My parts car is VIN#431958, L16, 100hp/6000 rpm on the tag, production date 12/72, illuminated wiper & headlight switch's, with rear window defrost. The dash is in storage, so I can not check the heater control panel, but I think it's a safe assumption to say it is the later style too.

Did I see someone comment on the availability of new REPRODUCTION left front inner fender VIN plates? Mine is crusty, and I hate putting things like that back on a fresh paint job :x !!

Production of the 4dr and wagon stopped in mid summer of 72, as far as I'm aware.
Hence why I started this post. Someone out there has the newest 510, and so far I believe it is Keith. I sure I parted a car made in 02/73, and I wish I would have kept the door tag. It was only a few years ago that I sold that door jam, attached to it's drivers rear quarter panel. Don't I wish I took a photo!

I have one around somewhere, and I'm sure Art Hughes has one with his totally stock 510 package.
I also have one of the dealer warrantys that was offered locally here, it was for my brown 72' sedan.
I could scan it in if you would like to see it. That is definately cool memorabilia thats for sure.

Wicked Saint

I want you to post this info here in this thread - it's where it's realavant, maybe with aphoto of your car. I saw the heater control area of your car - there's no faking that, thhe back lit heater controlls are very difficult to find (and now the price just trippled for anyone who has one because of this comment!)
Let's keep this thread clean and to the point, do you have a production date from yyyour door jam? Byron

Her number is 430907. I don't know the production numbers so I'm not sure how far from the end of the line she was. Don't go doin something creepy like Merlin and tell me what the guy who installed the motor ate for lunch the day my car was built :) Seriously though, if I ever need to stalk..... er.... Locate somebody I'm callin him.

Maybe its a good thing. You could get first-hand knowledge of the car from a previous owner.
