My 2-door was a 1/73 build date, serial 431602. Had all of the '73 goodies. Went through several of the incredibly rare illuminated wiper switches during it's life because the knob retaining nubs would break off..... Mine was the first Jan. of '73 car Rex Jennet had ever seen or heard of.

Hi Dave, thanks for posting.
There have been very few 1/73 cars, yours was built 2326 cars before Bertvorgons, who still has the newest 510 out there, documented which is also a 1/73. We’ll keep looking, I was hoping to document a a 2 ot 3/73 car, but maybe there just wasn’t such an animal built.

I'm betting there weren't any beyond 1/73. Also, mine had some emissions equipment that never showed on the parts microfiche for a 510, but showed up on the 610 fiche! Also, I have seen a 12/72 2-door that had a a higher serial by several hundred than mine. Searching for serials was a favorite game of mine when I went to Shasta!

Dave

You and me both!
I went home one year in the mid 90's with the lowest serial number car - a grey-green 68 4dr. The trophy was very cool - made out of two pieces of 1 1/2" thick broken glass - sounds odd but it is a cool trophy!

Car is featured in the opposing thread to this one – VIN# 006062:

Byron,

I went and checked the serial number on the mustard parts car. It says manufactire date was 1/73, number is 433722. Engine bay tag says L16, not L18. I would have considered it real luck to get an L18 in this deal.

I updated the first post to reflect the raw data collected so far.
Joker72z, can we confirm your numbers - for an 1/73, the number is too low. Can you take a photo of the firewall stamp?

Byron,

I've grabbed the Vin numbers off both cars. The parts car is production date 1/73 and the VIN is correct 433722. I've attached a pic of the door plate and the firewall. The data plate in the engine compartment does say L16 but it also says 100hp.

The shell is a 12/72 production date and the vin is 429776. I can't see the data plate in the engine compartment as it was painted over.

Pictures attached.

Just a couple of other pics of the decals under the hood on the 1/73 parts car.

If anyone is looking for a good title for their shell, I have the VIn tag, door tag, data plate and the title from Saskatchewan.

Hey Keith,
Where did you get the engine bay tag with the 100hp marking?

I checked Norm's site and he only shows the 96hp data plate. I think I would pop for a new one as well to add some detail to the engine bay once it's done.

Our cars are very very close though in Vin's.
Thanks
Chris

Hey Chris,

I had them made up, got the template made myself..long story, read the engine tag thread...

viewtopic.php?f=10&t=12789&hilit=engine+tags&start=60

I did some leg work.......

I don't have anymore of the 73's..if there was enough interest, I could do some more...

yah, when you think about it..as they were dropping the engine into yours, mine was likely just getting welded up...

Eh Chris - your car moved up the list quite a bit, it's been corrected to its rightful place.

I'm still looking for more 73 2dr cars here - bertvorgon appears to have the newest 510 registered so far.
