Wheel Width

Post by Cazzzidy »

Regardless of fitment issues, would running 7" wide in the front and 8" wide in the rear create any handeling problems?

I ask because I am shooting for 200+ HP, and with 8" wheels in back I could really handle the power.

I am thinking of tubbing the rear.

It may cause understeer as you'll have more grip out back then in the front.
Tubbing the rear would help, but I believe you'll have to do more than that to get em to fit!

If you are ploanning on keeping the Datsun IRS - tubbing is pretty much out of the question - do you own a 510??

Cant say that I do ... this is all just knowledge building. I am in the market for a door door though ...

I know I must sound like a moron asking these questions, I am just trying to learn as much as I can with out actually owning a 510 car. Forgive me.

Okay, so its pretty much out to tub, and it might cause understeer. Well, thats too bad.

This is the reason that you'll see so many flared 510 as a measure to get more rubber on the road. But you can just buy decent tires and keep the cool lines of the car though.
