WTB: NOS OEM brake / clutch switch

Post by VelvetHammer »

Looking for a NOS OEM brake/ clutch switch, or a VERY clean OEM one.

I found these, but I don't think the first two are actually OEM:

Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/Genuine-Nissan-3 ... utomotive#

Ebay: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Datsun-240Z-26 ... :rk:1:pf:1

Rockauto: https://www.rockauto.com/en/catalog/nis ... itch,10474

For some dumb reason I'd rather have the OEM part if I can find it.

Thanks!

They are cheap right from Nissan!! I buy from Riley at Lynchburg Nissan in VA, but Chico Nissan is on your coast!

The switches are so freakin chinsey, I rarely see a good USED one!!

After chasing down the part number changes, you want 25320-G0300. Readily available from NNA. Might take a week to get as they all show in warehouses back east.

Just spoke with Chad!

For those interested, the clutch switch actually has a different part number: 25320-A5501
Nissan no longer supports the clutch switch, there is no part change number he could find.

I'm a bit surprised by the different #s since from what I remember the two switches were exactly the same (two pin, on/off switch, same threads, dia, etc), can anyone confirm or deny that?

Are you building a stock 4speed 510? I can't remember WHAT the clutch switch did, but thought it was something emission related.....or maybe the 71-73 dual point switching...........or ?????? I figured the brake & clutch switches were the same too.....??!! Now I'm curious!!

No worries Chad, heard only great things about you out there at Chico Nissan! I've known Riley for many years, so that's who I'm programmed to contact!!

Yeah I believe the clutch switch was for emissions, can't quite remember exactly how it worked either.

My plan is to use the clutch to trigger different functions in the Motec M130 ECU I'm installing. For example, if I also have the Neutral Switch wired in I can program the ECU to use my multifunction keypad to push-button start the car (more safely), or even auto restart the car if it stalls (if car has stalled + clutch is in + and it's in neutral = auto restart).

A 3rd/ 4th/5th gear switch (depending on trans) could be used to trigger a different fuel map, bump up traction control (I'm eventually adding wheel speed sensors to the car to utilize this feature), and have a more precise gear indication on the C125 display (the software can guess gear position based on speed/ # of shifts/ RPM/ # of clutch depressions, but this would make it better).

I went through 2 from rock auto. Then pulled an old one off one of my cars that doesn't drive. Been good ever since. I'm going to order some from Nissan for sure!

This was the cheapest I could find, $23.08 shipped: http://datnissparts.com/brake-light-swi ... s-nissans/

Cheaper than my local dealer by $5, if you care about such things. Your dealer may vary

haha well, I'll definitely be getting some programming/ tuning help for that stuff. It would take me a while to figure it out on my own!
