I have a used set of Wilwood calipers and caliper brackets. They will also come with 2 sets of Wilwood compound A pads(half worn). They also have Titanium shims to reduce heat transfer. I can throw in the rotors if need be, but they are $15 on rockauto.
The brake setup works with 280zx struts and 300zx hubs only. I have used this setup with great results for a few years now.

There are a bunch of people who sell them. Dp racing, Troy Ermish, techno toys tuning. Almost all of them use the dyna light caliper. If you are going to go with a setup like this you should look at the dyna pro caliper. It is much stiffer and doesn't cost that much more.
If no one from the future comes back to stop you from doing it then how bad of a decision can it really be?

Or BRAKEMAN, these are forged and very stiff. I had the JFZ/Wilwoods ( early generations) and found them really flexy, drove me crazy. These are like a brick. They bleed very well also. They do need a custom bracket made for the mounting. BRAKEMAN may have something that bolts onto the 280zx.
If you are NOT racing and this is for the street,DO NOT out trick yourself and get "race" pads. You will never get them up to temp and will have virtually no brakes when cold. Try to get as soft a pad as possible.

If you decide to buy the TBM brakes ( the brake man brakes), don't tell them you are working on a Datsun because they will never call you back.

The TBM calipers have a really slick design for their fluid passages and where they put the bleed screw.

These calipers were the evolution of what was the original Mini GN caliper that JFZ developed back in the 80's. They and then the Wilwood equivalent flexed big time. As materials evolved, and better bridging, for all the manufacturers, you now benefit the stiffness of all the calipers.

great discussion, thank you all for the input! I have been doing datsuns for about a decade now, and have exclusively used ZX front struts with factory brakes. This time round on my build i would like to have modern braking power, whilst hopefully maintaining use of vintage aftermarket JDM 14" wheels. 13's if possible, but the likelihood of installing modern brakes and still fitting 13's my guess is unlikely.
