My father purchased this vehicle in the early 1990's. It had been a show car, so the paint and body was in excellent condition. However, the engine and drive train were all stock. During the 90's my father and I replaced the engine with a 1.8: SSS from Japan (where the SU's also came from), and replaced the transmission and rear axle with Z-car parts. I believe the engine has since been replaced with a 2.0l, but am not sure. Until a year ago, this car had been running, but my father started some work on it which he was unfortunately unable to finish.
Extras : Numerous spare parts: shock assemblies, hood, doors, and cylinder heads.

Sorry about your father..been there.

Very nice car,.....suggestion, put some clean rags over the valve train so that dust and debris do not get on there, or, put the valve cover back on.

Thank you for the kind words about my father. He purchased his first Datsun 510 in 1971, and has had at least one ever since. Two of his 510's were written off by being rear-ended. In the 80's and 90's I helped him change out engines on some of them, including the SSS engine that came on a pallet all the way from Japan. So, the 510 was really his pride and joy. I unfortunately have no room for another vehicle and just no spare time to take on another hobby. I hope this lifetime collection of parts and nice car make their way to a good home...

Confirmed... L20B, probably a '79/'80 by the look of it. Look on block behind dip stick handle for the stamped letters.For head ID look along bottom edge of head between first and second spark plugs... MADE IN JAPAN W58 I bet
