funwithmonkeys wrote:Toylet your price of $500usd in Arizona may have been good but in Ottowa these things are not easy to come by. $750 CAD is a reasonable price for what he has and where he is. I would not sell one for that little. There is no need to keep saying he is asking too much. We get it. You think it is too much. Some of us don't think it is.
Monkey the R160 diffs were advertised and sold on facebook 510 groups and took about a week to sale. So your AZ/Ottowa comment is dumb and has nothing to do with market value of said parts.

$500usd=$631.10cad. Taxes for importing are $82.17 and duty is $53.64 for a total of $766.91 and that doesn't include shipping. It would cost more to buy it for $500 in the USA and ship it to Canada then it would be to buy it for $750 in Canada.
And it should be a "a week to sell" not "a week to sale".

DADZSUN, I feel your pain. I advertised my Datsun R180 LSD here and the keyboard critics shot flaming arrows at my price yet nobody provided comparisons to support what they thought MY diff was worth. It doesn’t matter, because you can ask what you want, and accept what you want.

Too bad your for sale add taken a left turn.

Why is this seller getting this sort of harassment?

I am backing funwithmonkeys on this.
Toylet does not understand the lack of availability of some of these items (in Western Canada at least) as well as the inflated market and lower dollar equals higher prices. I dont know of a scrap yard in my area that hasnt been turned to a shopping mall or parking lot. We are more forced to rely on jdm imports (at least in Vancouver area) and they are a bit higher than the listed price In my opinion.

Maybe Toylet should stick to a market he understands?

On a lighter note.....
Has anyone tried out the 3.7 ratio on a 510?
I am curious how that performs, I understand 4.11 and 3.9 are popular as well as 4.4 (less common) which I see a lot of for sale from the jdm stuff.
How does this ratio hold up on a swap to a 510?

In my opinion, unless you have some really good torque and HP, 3:7 is really TALL, so any real acceleration is a no go. And/or, you just want a low RPM range for highway cruising.

You need to decide what you really want from the car..performance, or a cruiser, either is fair enough, you just need to be aware of the issues with each.

Both in my case.

The KA has lots of low-down Tq IMO making 1st somewhat meaningless (195/60R14 tires) - and I hate having to shift mid-intersection when turning.

I'm going to try the R180 @ 3.54 which is about 5% taller. Likely the only difference will be felt when cruising and possibly in Solo2 when I get close to redlining 2nd.

Thanks to everyone for the support on this. Nice to know I wasn't in the minority in terms of market value.

Diff is SOLD. For the asking price, I split shipping to Western Canada.

It was sad to see it go. Congrats to the new owner.

Mods please close.

I'm happy to see it sold. I didn't think you would have an issue as I have looked around here and they are getting very rare.
I'm curious what your KA red line is. I was only within 1krpm of my red line with 4.44's at the place I have solo'd.

Toylet does not understand why anyone would buy a scarce overpriced r160 that is 30 years old and clapped out, that has internal wear items that are no longer serviceable due to shortage of parts. Toylet does not understand why a 510 owner would not get a stronger, more modern R180 with unlimited parts availability for cheaper. Yes Toylet will stick with STI R180 and would never ever go backwards.Toylet does not know why people would come on here and ask how a 3.7 ratio is "on" a 510. What size tires do you have?? what engine do you have?? what transmission do you have??
