Ontario A87 Heads, NOS W58 Head, Header

Post by Balatch »

Thinking I'll be in the Z game a while. So parting with the remnants of my L4 stuff.

2x A87 heads
1x 210 head
1 NOS W58 head and roundport header
1 210 head

Take it all for $250. Located in Kaladar. Can meet in Brampton. Text 647 457 9899 with interest.

Are either of the A87 closed chamber heads? I am potentially interested in one/both of those, but don't need the whole lot.

Text me at 647 457 9899 for pics. Shipping to WA could be pricey though.

The A87 casting needs to be visually identified.........was made open chamber & peanut chamber, big valve & small valve, big port & small port! Maybe a better description on these? :D

A87 was used on all L18 engines and I think on the '74 610, the earliest vehicle with an L20B. Both would need open chamber heads. Even back then it's unlikely that Nissan would send engines out randomly with closed chamber heads and 8.9 (L20B) and 9.0 (L18) compressions, when the mid '70 were well into the low compression engines. I'm sure they would never jeopardize their over seas sales with messed up NOx emissions. The closed chamber heads likely were on import engines brought over by the container full. A low mileage L18 head was vastly cheaper than a valve job. I have a set of L18SSS flattop Hitachi SUs.... they sure didn't come on any engine on any Datsun car sold here.

Agree. I don't think any of the peanut chamber A87's were USA spec, but many were imported on longblocks!

I heard the dual Hitachi's were originally round tops & the next generation were flat tops..........but these were NOT emission carbs like the 240Z/260Z flat top carbs! Those are only good as fishing lures!

I think some of the very late L16SSS also got the flattops too and yes they are NOT the other boat anchors. Mine came on a K14 intake (maybe someone knows more about them from this?) complete with PCV valve and the two choke cables are cut off just like they do in wrecking yards when removing engines in a hurry. They also have an adjuster for setting the idle air mix??? Ingur is down but each SU has a triangular aluminum piece with hoses and a valve. These are usually removed and sealed in order to 'de-smog' them.
