WTB: 510 Coupe

Post by Kujo85 » 30 Nov 2018 12:04

Helping my father search for his first 510. He just sold his 1974 BMW 2002 Baur Targa and is ready to fill the garage space with something else. Main concern is a solid body first and foremost. Modifications are fine - it's ultimately a car he'll drive on nice days, and we'll likely do some father/son track time with it. Any leads are appreciated!

You want a USA spec 510 2dr Sedan or a JDM spec right hand drive 2dr Coupe? All USA spec are 2dr Sedans!

Are you looking for a turn key get in & drive, a runner that needs work, or a full on resto project? I have a relatively solid full on resto needed 1969 2dr available. California to Colorado car at some point, very straight, typical 510 rust but NOT bad. No engine or trans in it but I do have L-series available. Needs full interior, but has decent dash with cracks on top.

Expect $800-1500 truck shipping for anything to the east coast!

PM me if interested!

Thanks TJ - should have been more specific with my original post! I just wanted to get something out there quickly - let me talk to my old man a bit more and see what he’s willing to do - my initial thought is turn key, JT, I feel like those options are going to be harder to come by.

Nice turn key cars are all over the west coast, just gotta sort thru junk stuff! If you can afford to fly out to look at a handful of cars at a time, well worth the cost, cuz I have seen MANY people buy classic anything sight unseen, and get ripped a new a$$hole cuz was junk! You can get into a decent turn key 4dr for $4500-8000, 2dr for $6000-10000. Some people WANT to build their own project car, but if you farm out the work/labor, it can get pretty expensive!

Do you know Dave Weitz aka qwik510 in Maryland? He often has cars available, just sold a nice clean 4dr, within reasonable driving distance or much cheaper hauling cost! Tell him I said hello, or I can send contact info!

Let me know if you want more info on the 1969 2dr, but it is a project car!
