WTB 510 East Coast US

I am in the market for a 510 and I am looking for a nice car that doesn't need work that I can buy and drive right away. I have a good budget to work with an I am looking to spend around $25,000.00. I had a 69 510 4 door that I had posted the build here and never finished and ended up parting out which I wish I had kept and finished so I know about the cars. I am located in Massachusetts and I am willing to drive 10-12 hours away in the US. I am interested in both 2 and 4 door cars and I would be willing to look at a wagon if it is nicely done. I am looking for a car with a manual transmission and I would prefer a car with a 5 speed. The engine can be stock, modified or a swap is good also. I want a car with a nice paint job that I can take to car shows with and I don't want a car that has any rust issues. The interior can be stock or modified and the suspension and brakes can be also.

It kind of sounds like you are looking for a $40,000.00 car to me :D

I think your best bet would be to talk to qwik510 on here to see if he knows of one. He may be out of the selling game though.

This car was still available as of a few days ago. It's on the wrong coast but could get to you shipped for around $25K. I think it's a bargain and would buy it if I had the funds. I have the sellers phone number if you have any interest. PM me for it.

I saw that car and it is what I am looking for. The only problem is that it's on the wrong coast. I would like to see and drive a car before I buy it.

Thanks Lou. I have been looking there. I wish I had finished and kept the car that I bought from you and finished it. I found another 69 4 door here in Ma that has some rust issues and if I had a large garage I would buy it and get my old shell back from Dave and swap all of the parts over to my old shell after having it painted.

Sometimes a plane flight to look at a car that really sounds like what you want is worth the $400-600 + a day or two travel! As you know, by buying a dry west coast/southern car, you can be miles ahead with much less rust etc. Keep the travel cost in mind within your budget & it CAN pay off! I've seen way too many people buy classic cars sight unseen & get ripped off!

Yes, Dave aka qwik510 is a great source in the mid-Atlantic region! I hope to visit with him in a few weeks while I'm in MD!

That tangerine orange 510 2dr currently for sale on 510forsale.com came from me. It is here in Colorado. It was a relatively solid complete car that had sat 20++ years, & Omar (Ceaser??) sent it to his good buddy for body & paint. He collected the CA18 & SR20DET's, but decided to abandon the project to start a new business! I have NOT seen the body & paint quality yet, but his good buddy painted it & Omar is pretty particular, so I bet it is a decent job!

I've got a relatively solid 69 2dr that needs a FULL build/resto, sitting 20++ years, but only typical rust, not rotted, never been hit. Problem is no title & Colorado has a bonding process that is kind of a pain, so I simply haven't done it!

Thanks TJ. Unfortunately I don't fly so that is not an option. I am not looking for a project car at this time (been there before and you can see my build here that I never finished and gave up on: http://www.the510realm.com/viewtopic.php?t=11313 ). I did talk to Dave and he doesn't know of any at this time. I am not in a rush so I can wait until I find the perfect car for me.

It's all relative to what you're willing to pay. I've got a pretty good condition 510 with mikuni 40's and real watanabe wheels and I'm in Boston(Somerville) but I'm not actively looking to sell the car. Someone would have to make me an offer I can't refuse to get rid of it.

Dang 40K would get you a killer coupe out of Japan. Just saying, if your able to tolerate an L series might be an alternative option. It would for sure turn heads at any show. It's also fun to have a 510 that came with other dealer options. Like my coupe is a base model so L16 but drum front brakes! Just an idea.

The only body style that I would not be interested in is a coupe. I would have no problem with a L series engine.
