need an oil pan

Post by jovial_cynic » 06 Nov 2003 22:02

I've got a napsZ 2.2L efi in my 71 510, and i installed it without really thinking about the oil pan. Now that it's in, I can see that the oil pan sits about 3/4 of an inch lower than the front crossmember, which is NO good.

I hear that using the L-series oil pan (with some modifications) will work. what modifications are necessary?

note - i'm pretty well broke. i've got a baby due in a week, so i don't have a lot of cash handy for my car project. :? so... yeah. i've got some parts for trade, i suppose, but i'm more interested in the folks that have too many l-series motors sitting around and would like to just toss their oil pans out. :)

it turns out that i might not need one anyway. the z2.2e is actually *in* my car, which seems to mean that the oil pan "fits." the l-series oil pans aren't any shorter; the only thing i can do to keep the pan above the crossmember is to custom-shorten the pan. so... yeah. i won't be needing it anymore... unless yours happens to be shortened. :P
