**********************************************************************************

Hello to all of you East Coast Datsun 510'rs,

Happy New Year to all of you. I hope that 2009 will bring you all Health, Wealth, Happiness and lots of good times in your 510.

The time is getting near for the 13th annual East Coast Datsun 510 meet. As some of you know, our annual meet was started in 1997 at Summit Point Raceway and was held during the Brian Redman’s Jefferson 500. The Jefferson 500 is a vintage car race drawing all sorts of great vintage cars and fans. We held years 1 – 10 of our meet during that event and then in year 11 (2007) the Jefferson 500 was canceled at the last minute. We scrambled to find another location and ended up having a great time at Cedar Mountain Campground in Culpeper. As good as the campground was, most of us missed Summit Point and the racing environment. So for 2008, we decided to find a replacement for the Jefferson 500. Last year we were back at Summit Point and held our meet during the SCCA Nationals. It was a good time and everyone seemed to enjoy it.

Well for 2009, the Jefferson 500 is back at Summit Point. Vintage Racers Group (VRG) is bringing back the Jefferson 500.

The Jefferson 500 is being held Friday, Saturday and Sunday, May 1st – 3rd, 2009.

Enjoy the Ride!

Rather that decide based on the weather, great info BTW, I love reading stuff like that) how about we decide based on the racing. Do you have any idea which event will be better attended (by racers), which one will have the largest fields. Since I've been into vintage lately, I'd probably choose May 1st.

I vote for the second weekend because I am going to the Mitty at Road Atlanta. I am from Oregon. A little rain is no big deal. Besides you can't control the weather.

I didn't notice that conflict, so I change my vote to May 15-17. I'm also planning to attend the Mitty.

I have to admit that I am disappointed about the choice of dates because my wife and I had been planning a trip to the east coast for two years. I am still bringing my 510 and after we attend the Mitty we will be coming north to the DC area. Any advice from the locals would about seeing the sights would be helpful.

Even if you can't make it to the meet, perhaps some of us VA, DC, MD guys could arrange a mini meet for when you are here.

I agree. Lets plan a get together in the DC area for Flying O. We did this last year when Yenpit (TJ) came to town.

We can do a fun run or jsut an afternoon get together.

If you need info on sites to see in the DC area, I can help. I have lived in the DC area all my life. Let me know.

That sounds great guys! As we move along in the planning and I have a better time frame I will be in touch. Since we will be in our motorhome with the 510 on a trailer RV parks will be our choice of places to stay and use as a base to travel from. If we could get together while we are there, that would be super.

Do you think you will still be around the following weekend? That Sunday May 10th (510 day) is Mothers day but maybe we could get a group together for Saturday and do a 510 day cruise.

I'm a little bummed too, about the conflict with the Mitty. Maybe I'll make on of the follow-up get-togethers.

There will be a few of us 510ers at the Mitty. Since you are camping look for us in the infield between turn 9 and the esses. The Nostalgic Japanese club out of Atlanta will be having their spring meet there with group parade laps on Saturday. cya,
